Yes Elvis was a generous person but to a fault but that's only some people from the past and today they only remember him as the image and the entertainer not as a human being just like they were ❤. If I ever was in that time and I met him i would just talk with him as a friend and actually love him.

he made mistakes everyone does and bless his soul he lost control of who he was yeah he got heavy & sang a few bad songs but he sang some great ones before he passed on so let's shine a little light on elvis shine a little light his way why don't we shine a little light on elvis & appreciate the gifts he gave he grew up sheltered he grew up poor but he grew up sharing loved & adored he dreamed his dreams like you & me he broke from his prison of poverty so let's shine a little light on elvis shine a little light his way why don't we shine a little light on elvis & appreciate the price he paid and he carried their burdens square up on his back untill he could buy them their very home & a couple of brands new cadillacs wish i could of done this bet you do too how bout some credit where credits due its time to shine a little light on elvis let's shine a little light his way when you shine on someone else that light will shine back on yourself & that's bound to make a better day why don't we shine a little light on elvis let's shine a little light his way cuz when you shine a little light its like a beacon in the night that can guide you till the break of day

Although Elvis loved to give, you can guarantee there was no shortage of takers. What did the others do for Elvis? He didn't just buy Cadillacs either, cars, jewellry, houses, clothes. Even some associates said he gave away too much. Tom Parker on the other hand never gave anything away unless there was a profit in it. Someone once asked, was it true that he took 50% of Elvis' profits. He thought for a moment and said, no, he (Elvis) takes 50% of mine! There are many takers but, few that give from their heart. So, Elvis is remembered for much, a great singer/entertainer and extremely rich, so he shared it with those he knew and loved and those he didn't know. He was the golden goose and he died young and exhausted and while it lasted nobody wanted it stop. Elvis the giver died and nobody could save him from himself. Now, if that happened that might have been a worthy friend to have!

I see? that's the reason why Elvis keeps on working because of these people, taking too many drugs in order to keep him going. the problem was that several of these same people are giving negative comments about Elvis's overwork and drug abuse. shut up

I truly loved this short story of Elvis. It brought tears to my eyes in sadness & in admiration. I never was a fan, though respected him & his contributions to music & culture. I even, at the age of ten, remember the exact moment place & person who told me that he had passed. I had to ask this older girlfriend I hung with why she was crying so much & she told me at the V.F. W. Parking lot where we played kick ball that the king died. I said, "who?'" And she explained Elvis P. The king of rock n roll. I still didn't have immediate recollection of who she was talking about. It wasn't till she sang some of his songs did I recall. I don't know why this one person's death had such an imprint on my memory, but I believe it was not just her sadness but I felt my whole world nieghbors , family, everyone in my city of Boston, Ma. Was silent & sad. It felt like a huge wave of silence and sadness and she was the only one who talked to me about his death &.I was the youngest of nine children, so there was always chatter at my house. However, not on this day there was silence & a mood of silence that I couldn't understand. Well since Baz's new movie I've read & watched Elvis info. For hours a day everyday for a month now. I am so moved & understand now that very odd vivid memory of Aug. 16, 1977. I've never had a memory burnt into my mind As I did his death, even no I knew nothing of the gravity of what was going on. I'm so glad I can understand better the impact of his death that day. I just wished I had more images of him being a live. I am now a true fan & want my grandchildren to grow to know & love him as well. I love his humble loving humanity that touches my heart. If we had more people with his unselfish love for people our world would be such a better place. I pray his legacy will live & inspire others to walk a mile in others shoes before they critics & judge. I pray his smiling down on us with great humble happiness he hasn't been forgotten and his fans grow over years!!! So

@ 13 minute mark - I wonder how many people actually know identity of the woman Elvis bought the car for, that Linda is describing in her story. I know who it was. It's an even better story than him just buying her a car.

Sonny tells the story of reading about a fund raiser for a little black lady that had no legs and needed an electric wheelchair. She got around on a board with roller skates attached. Elvis went and got the top of the line electric wheelchair chair and they loaded it up and Elvis personally went to deliver it. He said the woman was in awe Elvis picked her up and put her in it. He showed her how some of the controls worked. She was crying and overwhelmed by his generosity. Before he left he gave her some money. As they were leaving to get in the car, Sonny said Elvis she doesn't even know who you are. Elvis said That's ok at least she knows somebody cares. Now That's the heart of a Christian!

Hello from England The day Elvis died was 2 days before my 12th birthday. I so remember watching his funeral on TV with my late parents and the only thing that sticks in my memory is seeing all those White Cadillac Cars behind the hearse and there must have been at least 20 of them. OMG I have been a fan ever since. Although i only knew of him in the early 70's i would have watched the Aloha from Hawaii concert in 1973 LIVE ACROSS THE WORLD VIA SATELLITE Elvis was truly "A ONE OFF" human being He SANG like NOBODY else He MOVED on STAGE like NOBODY else He had that "WIGGLE" like NOBODY else He had that "STAGE PRESENCE" like NOBODY else He wore clothes like NOBODY else. His life was short but BY GOD he crammed a lot into it. As a kid i never thought anything about his "backstory" before but i have learnt a lot since. There are a lot of "STORIES" about Elvis, 99% of them so wonderful and happy and the other 1% not so but hey Elvis was human after all and we all have our faults as Elvis had but he was such a good giving person
