Thanks for the guidelines. A suggestion to position the camera above the planter so we can see what you are doing as you work.

Interesting video, all good and well to plant, However! Tomatoes need space to grow, and at least 20lt dept. Cucumber and tomatoes need lots of nutrients and staking. The end result of the growing progress would be nice to see in a follow up video. Also When do we plant here in Johannesburg \ Wilgeheuwel. And then there is aphids, spider mites, mealie bugs, leave fungus, and nutrient deficiency. also lettuce not always germinating, and if grown in summer the bolt. But nice to see South African vidoe's

I live in Canada here zone 6 cold winters, ice and snow. When my foxglove went to seed I just took them and shook them all around the part of the garden I wanted to have them grow (In fall) The ground is absolutely horrid in this area, clay and clumpy. This spring I have literally 100"s of seedlings. I am in process of digging them up and potting them up because it's too early to transplant them back into the ground. They are in my greenhouse. Easiest plant I ever grew. I can't take credit, Mother Nature is amazing.

I have 3 Lavender bushes that are spreading all over. If I thin them out, can I transplant Lavender by cutting some of the root out with the branches?

Well this makes so much sense…I have been doing it wrong! Everything I have read said to prune about a month before the spring warm weather hits (so in Eastern Washington where I live that would be like February). No wonder I have been having the problem of my tree getting WAY taller than I want…because I can’t butcher it back as aggressively as I want to because all the new growth is at the ends and I don’t want to prune it all off. Next season I will get it right!

From experience, over the years, I only move lavender plants in the spring when I start seeing green and before it blooms. I tried many times to move in the fall but that was a disaster in my northern zone 5b garden, as they didn't have enough time to restablish their roots. For me, this method works everytime.

Do you need to water a lot after transplanting to get them re established?
@tinaknutsen
@tinaknutsen 5 ай бұрын
@@jadeduan6991 You need to water your lavender real well the day before you dig it up and then again when you transplant it. If you are having dry hot temperatures then you will need to water it more often until it is established. You may experience some wilting when transplanted…especially if you cut into the roots-important to try and get the whole root ball there will be less wilting/drooping of the foilage due to transplant shock. I use a product called Ferti-lome that you can get at Home Depot or Lowe’s. It comes in a grey container…doesn’t smell good but works great for preventing transplant shock. Take 1 gallon of water and mix 3 Tablespoons of Ferti-Lome. No need to fertilize as it has fertilizer in it. Thought it was worth mentioning and it comes concentrated in a gallon so it will last a long time. I had to relocate arborvitaes, clematis, hydrangeas…due to putting in a new fence and they all made it…in the middle of summer when it isn’t ideal to transplant. Clematis do not like to be moved and I had to dig it up and let soak in a wheel barrel with the Ferti-lome for a full day…I thought I had lost it but the following year I got a wimpy branch and now it looks vigorous and healthy.

Great video! Spring came really early here in NC, I didn't get to prune while dormant. I've got two Contender peach trees that I planted three years ago, last year they exploded upwards. Hopefully I won't stress the trees out by the heavy prune I've got to do now🤷‍♂️
