From experience, over the years, I only move lavender plants in the spring when I start seeing green and before it blooms. I tried many times to move in the fall but that was a disaster in my northern zone 5b garden, as they didn't have enough time to restablish their roots. For me, this method works everytime.

Do you need to water a lot after transplanting to get them re established?
@tinaknutsen6 ай бұрын
@@jadeduan6991 You need to water your lavender real well the day before you dig it up and then again when you transplant it. If you are having dry hot temperatures then you will need to water it more often until it is established. You may experience some wilting when transplanted…especially if you cut into the roots-important to try and get the whole root ball there will be less wilting/drooping of the foilage due to transplant shock. I use a product called Ferti-lome that you can get at Home Depot or Lowe’s. It comes in a grey container…doesn’t smell good but works great for preventing transplant shock. Take 1 gallon of water and mix 3 Tablespoons of Ferti-Lome. No need to fertilize as it has fertilizer in it. Thought it was worth mentioning and it comes concentrated in a gallon so it will last a long time. I had to relocate arborvitaes, clematis, hydrangeas…due to putting in a new fence and they all made it…in the middle of summer when it isn’t ideal to transplant. Clematis do not like to be moved and I had to dig it up and let soak in a wheel barrel with the Ferti-lome for a full day…I thought I had lost it but the following year I got a wimpy branch and now it looks vigorous and healthy.

I have 3 Lavender bushes that are spreading all over. If I thin them out, can I transplant Lavender by cutting some of the root out with the branches?

Where do you “soak an older plant overnight”? Do you soak it in the ground or do you dig up the plant and soak it in a bucket of water ?

Thank you for the Video. I need to move my plant because I need to Revamp My area for vegetables or something. Will this work if I transplant to a Cement pot?

3:05 I would have just swallowed that guy... nah just kidding. Btw two question. Can I transplant a lavender that has already fully bloomed? Can I transplant the same lavender from the garden into a pot and take it home?

Thank you. I replanted my lavender plant and destroyed it. I should have watched this video first.
