Hi guys. Great vid. Want to do the same to my van. Did you have to change out the stabiliser legs to longer ones
@TheBeatenTrak4 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. No the stabiliser legs didn't need changing. I think if he's parked on a bit of a slope and they don't quite reach the ground he just uses a block underneath.

I notice that you are using a Santa Fe to tow. Us too with a small caravan. Would you not recommend going to this camp with a Santa Fe? Have you made any modifications to the vehicle?
@TheBeatenTrak4 күн бұрын
Yeah going to that spot with the Santa Fe wasn't ideal. I needed help getting getting out as it was super steep and my Santa Fe kept loosing traction and couldn't pull the weight up the steep rocky road.

Hi there again just wondering if you used white silicone on the white areas and black on the black areas or just white all over. Thanks
@TheBeatenTrak2 ай бұрын
A lot of the joins are where black meets white so we actually used clear for most of it. Some areas like around the tail lights on the black checker plate we used black silicone.

Hey mate great tidy setup,, like you thinking about the shorter drawers as well, my question is about your awning, I m looking at a 270 as well, but they are very long and I have been told not to mount across the tub and body as they are mounted independently it could damage the awning., have you had any trouble with yours twisting or flexing? Cheers

Hey mate, how’d you wire it into the switch? Cheers
@TheBeatenTrak3 ай бұрын
Hey mate, it’s just four screws on the front of the switch panel that give you access to the internals. Run the cable in and just connect it into one of the available switches. It’s pretty simple to do, you shouldn’t have any issues 👌🏻

..thanks for sharing...I'm just a newbie and starting to build my minimalist rig, I can see that you dont have a power station, instead you have the extra battery charged by the dc-dc charger and solar to power the fridge and the lights, is it enough for a few days camping?
@TheBeatenTrak3 ай бұрын
Hey mate thanks for the question. Set up like this I have plenty of power to run my fridge, camp lights, recharge phones, camera batteries and camp for as long as I like. If you wanted to install an inverter to run an induction cooker or small coffee machine for example then you would probably need some bigger batteries I'd imagine. I've done many camp trips in this set up now and I've never struggled for power. Have fun building your rig out!

G’day mate The small bolt that came with the awning is the one you use to attach the bracket to the roof bar. Take the rubber out of the bar. Slide the bolt head upside down into the groove where the rubber was with the threads pointing to the sky. That’s why that small bolt has a funny shaped head. It slides into the groove where the rubber is in the bar Place the cutout in the bracket on top of the upside down bolt and tighten down with a nut. The cutout is elongated so you can slide it around to get the best position. Replace the rubber if you want to by cutting it into sections to fill in the gaps No need to drill anything. Hope this helps

Hey Mark, really appreciate your detailed instructions which will certainly help anyone watching here, who's looking to install an awning avoid my rookie mistake. I certainly went the hard way about fitting it. Lesson learnt :) Thanks again mate, appreciated.

Thanks for this. Can you tell us what is the gross weight of your van? Is your Santa Fe the 2.2 CRDi diesel? Did you actually try to drive out the steep section or just played it safe?
@TheBeatenTrak3 ай бұрын
Hey Davo, really sorry for the slow reply. Yeah the Santa Fe I had in this video was the 2.2 CRDi and I did try to drive up the steep section but it was too steep and my wheels kept spinning. One thing I probably could have tried was to drop the tyre pressure a little but I reckon it still would have been a battle. The old Santa Fe definitely wasn't cut out for it. Thanks to the rangers that saved me!
