If you were going to try to open up the other exterior wall, how would the bracing be different? There is still a load, but not as much for several reasons. When the floor joists don’t run the correct way, how to you temp support it? Would you attach a ledger lvl but run temp supports to the ground like on a porch post replacement? Or are you relying solely on the lvl being attached to the corner post and then stretching across several studs that are unaffected past the opening to support the wall? And the temp wall below as only to hold up the joists while you cut away the studs that weee holding them?

Few questions on the drawers and uprights... Is this 3/4" plywood? What depth for the dado that the bottom of the drawer slides in? What was your method for cutting all the dados?
@TheRealBeardedBuilder5 ай бұрын
@@gsd_802 all drawer plywood was 1/2”. I don’t recall the depth on the cabinet sides. My guess is maybe 3/8 of an inch. I used a router with a 1/2” bit in it and made two passes to make the dado about 3/4”.

Is this the go-to nailer for ringshank asphalt nails and vinyl siding? Any better double duty nailers now? Thanks
@TheRealBeardedBuilder7 ай бұрын
We really like this for vinyl siding and roofing repairs. We wouldn’t use it to nail shingles on an entire house because a pneumatic nailer is way faster, but it does the trick for repairs.
@MrRerod7 ай бұрын

We cleated a couple 1x6 together to lay across the brake C’s for a deck for the stock your working. I like combination squares for repetitive short dimension marking. Small notched and bent scraps of coil stock can also make repetitive marking gauges. You don’t actually have to make a mark if you use the gauge to set the reveals in the brake.

@peterbarlow8912 Жыл бұрын
Should have put tongues on that final strip. Rabbet them on your job site table saw. I probably would have started at the ledger with the subfloor so you can get a tongued strip in. T&G tends to mate up better if your hold the leading edge fasteners back from the edge until the next swath is run.
@peterbarlow8912 Жыл бұрын
Don’t really like those OSB band joists. That material is notorious for splitting when you nail in the edge. How’s it going to reliably hold plate nails never mind subfloor nails. I built a 20’ garage with those same I-joists but I used solid sawn 2x12 plus a 2x strip glued and nailed on top to build it up. I did put a 2x6 strong back on the bottom center line making sure the joists were plumb at that point.

@ramchillarege1658 Жыл бұрын
Question for you: I am hobbyist JD 1025 R small tractor owner. Been thinking of starting some gardening too, and shopping for trailer that can be multipurpose. 16x7 utility twin axle is what most people get. But the PJ T1 tilt single axle 7000# 16 ft caught my eye. The challenge will be to add sides for compost/mulch. The easy forklift access on the front make it easy to pickup an hvac unit, etc. But, would that be an over kill? Or impractical since I would need to make up sides that are not a ready made option. And then its certainly a few $K premium over a landscape trailer.

Thank you for the informative video. Looks like you opened up around 16’. I need a laundry room for my 1957 ranch in TX - it was never in the garage, was probably in kitchen. Currently in a sunroom tacked on the back of the house that I call the EZ Bake oven - it’s 110° to 115° F in summer & freezing in winter. It’s time and your video gives me hope. Of course I have to relocate the kitchen to go through the back wall of the house - I have a great GC I trust, but still need to see the process to calm myself down!
