I live in South LA and have several fruit trees and plant at least one tomato plant every season. I collect washing machine grey water in two 50 gallon tanks that are connected. I have a gravity feed to front and back yard. I have capability to replenish the tanks with city water because the washing machine water isn't enough in the summer. The grey water has Eco plant based detergent and OxiClean in it, and sometimes, fabric softener too. It seems to work especially well, the laundry additives offer some fertilizer and make the water easier for the plants to absorb. Also, the tanks have some beneficial bacteria in them which actually keeps the fauna in the soil very active.The trees and tomatoes thrive. And I save water. I have basins around the trees for the water to collect, and once a week I flood them about 4" deep. It works, well. And conserves water.If you can capture other grey water from your house, your plants will love it, and you're saving resources.

I haven’t pruned my lemon tree in 10 years, because I was scared to do any damage. I feel confident now to do it myself thanks.

Thanks! Question: can you start beets from seed any month here in socal? And of course have good crop or only cool season?
@yardtotablecreations
@yardtotablecreations Жыл бұрын
They do best in the cool season. Even though most varieties only take about two months, they'll likely bolt and not develop as nicely during warmer motnhs
