It is giving you the correct answer (not sure why you have a zero in front of the 2, but it's technically still the correct answer). you can use the minus button as negative it does not make a difference .
@scottcollins75132 ай бұрын
I think most of the time you get away with it, but it is a bad habit. For example, in normal mode, if you use subtract (minus) key to enter -6, the calculator will assume you want "Ans-6" (the previous result minus 6). If you instead use the (more proper) "(-) negative" key, the calculator will simply assume you want "-6". Also, if you switch to a different brand of calculator, you may find it less-tolerant of using subtract key in place of negative key.

Hi Scott I am wondering if this TI 30X pro also has the bugs from the TI 36X pro. The issue with the incorrect mixed fraction results with operations involving PI. Or the negative Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion error. Do you know if this one has them or if they are no longer present. See programming errors en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/TI-36

I checked to see if I could duplicate the pi*12.5^2 bug outlined here: www.nickweil.com/2012/01/ti-36x-pro-programming-bug-info-video.html. I could not duplicate the bug. It seems that TI addressed and eliminated the bug on the TI-30X Pro. I was not able to find anything walking through the temperature conversion error alluded to on the wikipedia page. If you can explain that one or provide a link, I will check it on my TI-30X Pro.

There should be a reason, why x=2 turns out to be x=-2 for the calculator to do it correctly?
@scottcollins75133 ай бұрын
It is the difference between ROOTS (aka "Zeros") and FACTORS. The calculator is telling you what x values when plugged back into the equation will give you a y value of ZERO. To get the factors you need to reverse the sign. When calculator gives us the ROOT x=2, we can then use that to determine that the corresponding factor will be (x-2).

Hi Scott, do you know how to input a derivative to the second order (or nth order in general) on this calc? the one in the template is only 1st order.
@scottcollins75134 ай бұрын
You can do a "nested" derivative. For example, if I wanted to find the 2nd derivative of y=x^3, I could put in the following: d{ d(x^3)/d(x) } / d{x} Sorry the formatting is not more flexible, but the idea is that for the numerator you are nesting in another d()/d() function.
