Did Ollie ACTUALLY use the toilet as a potty??
@JesalandSonia20 күн бұрын
He does! There are some clips of it in other the videos and a Short, but we might just need to make a video about this on its own since so many have found it fascinating! He will go outside with Luna sometimes and other times in the van toilet. But either way we don’t need to put out a litter box in the van 🙌

Your cabinets are perfect!!! I love the color and the cane webbing it helps keep it from TOO much blue or white & brings in the natural elements & your butcher block, as well as keeping it lighter weight! As big as the job was for ALL of the cabinets and drawers were, you’ve DONE ✔️ it beautifully & SHOULD be so very proud!

I JUST realized that you COULD use those beautiful Indian cushions in the BACK of the van for extra seating!?
@JesalandSonia20 күн бұрын
The issue was just carrying those large cushions and having them be in the way. But we have used the back area with the folding chairs we carry and had quite a few people in the van at once 😄
@Angelique-Le21 күн бұрын
🤞 I HOPE that you’ve hung onto your butcher block cut outs because I think you could use them!! One as a sink cover & the other for a table top on a lagoon table! That’d probably be a surface that you can use for a desk as well & obviously then put away!
@JesalandSonia20 күн бұрын
We still have the extra cutouts and we were thinking of using them that way once we are back at our home base and start more van upgrades! Still in the pipeline of the never ending list of things to do! 😅
@Angelique-Le21 күн бұрын
Ummm question again, WHY the pee funnel? I was sure you guys got a toilet? Or is that for emergency use or something like it?
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
from what we learned from others and now have confirmed from our own experience, mixing human solid and liquid waste is what amplifies the odors and the liquids fills up the space rather quickly and are heavy; which makes it harder to empty down the line. When we use only the chemical toilet for solid waste using only water for flush it actually makes things a lot smoother. So the funnel system which we have seen many others implement will help us too in many ways! (Still part of the list of plumbing upgrades this spring when we finish the shower systems in the rear too!)
@Angelique-Le21 күн бұрын
I would probably have put the heater pad on the top AND the bottom of the dirty water tank, JUST to be safe with the freezing issue. So I’m definitely crossing my fingers for you guys!!
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
Luckily we haven’t had to use the heaters yet! But according to the manufacturer instructions it was said to put on the bottom preferably otherwise side. But top was not advised as the heat travels upward. We opted for the side since we didn’t want the pad to be damaged since it’s underneath the vehicle! Also we’ll be proactive in emptying tanks in freezing weather to hopefully further reduce risks!

I’m sorry, this may be a stupid question! But WHAT is that white thing that you put in your upper cabinet that needed a hole in the cabinet? Just curious because I’ve never seen that in any other van/bus build before. And I really DO obviously binge watch SO very much tiny homes stuff! 😉😂
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
We love that you are binge watching and getting a very in depth review of our build! We actually did the same for so many builds before starting our own and wanted to give back! 🙌 Also it’s a good question! I think I know what you’re asking about - at in the back of the cabinet is the back support for the cabinet to be anchored to the wall ribs! We wanted there to be a way to screw it to the wall easily while also keeping the assembly simple. It’s shaped a little weird because we have wires coming out of the walls, so there is space for that! Hopefully that makes sense and answers your question?
@Angelique-Le21 күн бұрын
@ upper cabinet on the driver side, there was a white gadget of some kind that you had to (what it LOOKED like, I could have seen it wrong or mistaken something, I’ll probably watch it again just to see LOL), that it LOOKED like you had to put a hole (& I understand the wires!) I was just curious about whatever the white gadget was because I just couldn’t tell! It looked like a possible air purifier or a small weird fan!
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
@Angelique-Le ohhh yes! It’s an air purifier! The hole is designed perfectly to let the clean air flow down and since the cabinet is rattan the air flows in freely. It is so handy for a small space like a van that’s on the road all the time. You’d be surprised how much gunk we clean off of the filter so quickly.

I even rewound, watched this part again & still I got the giggles also! 😂

LMAO, “ a lot of this is does it SEEM straight”! I ligit LMAO!!! And you guys laughing about it also!! 🤣😂😆
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
We realized that it just needs to work and kinda look good. It doesn’t necessarily need to be straight. Sometimes that caused more issues since the surrounding areas of the van itself aren’t straight 😅
@Angelique-Le21 күн бұрын
LOL, wouldn’t do it again BUT it’s light weight! I LOVE your ceiling!!! And I’m so glad that it’s grown on you! It was a wonderful beautiful light weight idea! And quite honestly I’m SUPER happy that you’ve chosen some darn COLOR for your build (I’ve watched a lot of your videos AFTER the build start, so when it’s mostly done ✔️!)! I am SO tired of all of the tiny homes that are basically almost all white!!! For starters it’s difficult to keep clean, & then there’s zero personality! Your ceiling goes SO very amazing with the colors you’ve chosen! I absolutely adore the map you put up also BTW!
@JesalandSonia21 күн бұрын
Reading all your comments today really made our day! So glad you like the build and design choices! We put a lot of time and personality into the design while trying to keep it functional for daily use! Yes we have already noticed the areas that are white show the dirt much faster and are glad we have a variety of colors, materials and textures that we enjoy and makes it feel like a home!

And honestly your kitty & puppy are a joy (but I’m a little biased about pets, I’ve got 2 pups myself)! I’m also a little bit jealous, because I would do just about anything to do van 🚐 life or bus life! I’ve been watching tiny homes type living for YEARS now & if I could get my hands on a converted shuttle bus (I wouldn’t be able to afford or physically do all the work) I would absolutely be the happiest person ever! so I binge watch all of it that I can & live vicariously through you, with a smile and a tiny bit of jealousy!
