If your going straight on the mini roundabout you would not need to signal on the approach and also as it’s a mini roundabout it is not necessary to signal off of it.

Hi Millie's you are correct I am assuming you are talking about the junction Cowley Road turning right into Cowley Mill Road at 20:25 on the video. Yes if you are turning right you can enter the box, but do make sure that you will be able to clear the junction into Cowley Mill Road and there is not traffic backed up into Cowley Mill Road. The Highway Code states Rule 174 Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road (see ‘Road markings’). You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right. At signalled roundabouts you MUST NOT enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping.

Hi, good points but at 22:20 this is actually a taking up point the left lane splits to both the left and middle lane so no indication required obviously if there was a car in the right hand lane and you felt they may move in to the middle lane then it would be necessary, the most important thing here would be good observation of your surroundings and awareness. At 24:52 this is a give way junction no need to stop if the road is clear what I have done on the video was to go very slow and back to first gear. I think you have confused this junction with the top of Skew Road which is a stop sign and yes you would need to fully stop there. Hope that helps good luck with your test.

It’s no problem at all, and some times I get things wrong as I am filming and talking to as well as dealing with traffic. This is a good point though your instructor has given you a request how to approach a particular junction but as the driver you should challenge your own understanding by looking at all the signs and road markings and his you are confused or not happy you should challenge them for more clarity. The Instructor maybe telling you to stop here because he thinks it will be easier for you to deal with this junction in this way.

Good point and very factually correct, the point is lost a little bit on this route and video as no sections of it are actually national speed limit. The point I was try to make which I think generally was understood is that even though the road has widened to two lanes the speed limit is still 30mph, but yes a dual carriageway in true technical and legal terms is a stretch of road with a central reservation or a strip of land between both directions, it is very rare though to find a single lane in each direction dual carriageway with a national speed limit.

Hi Steffanie, I am not from uxbridge so therefore I am not aware of how the examiners will deal with this local situation, however if you refer to the Highway Code then you should not be in the yellow box. You could try calling the test centre and asking them and explain the you are confused because your instructor has told you to enter the box but you know from the Highway Code that you shouldn't. You will find the staff generally very helpful at the driving test centres. the number I can find online is 0189 5814631 or 0843 504 7271. hope that helps but my view is still that you shouldn't be waiting in the yellow box. There is no need to and there is no benefit to do it the lights will go green and you can move off from the position behind the yellow box.

Sure you could do either but this is a very small mini roundabout and you may find there isn’t time so it is acceptable to just indicate right here and not signal off but if you feel you have time you can signal off as well.

It’s actually a 30mph zone, obviously though you wouldn’t be driving at that speed around the industrial estate there. There are 5mph signs as you come past the post office entrance, these relate to the post office car park and loading bay.

Yes sure you are absolutely right but there was congestion in the road they were wanting to turn into hence why I was able to pass in front of them. If you watch the segment again you can see the situation as I approach the junction.
