To keep it fresh use a slender plastic bag like those used for newspapers or a gallon ziplock. Place the lei in the open bag. Secure the end or a portion of the string and push away the blossoms, close up the opening while holding the string of the lei, and blow air in the bag (like filling up a balloon). This will create an air cushion around the lei. Secure the end with a rubber band and keep it in the refrigerator.
