Not an easy task to upstage Branford Marsalis on that tour, but Kenny Kirkland did it nightly. What gets lost in the mix is the insane bass and percussion that was happening at the same time. POWERHOUSE band.

besides the incredible compositional skills and the great accompaniment, what really makes these songs work, is that Sting's voice is like another instrument....

Words fail to describe the beauty of this song. A perfect mix of Jazz, Pop and Soft Rock. It's been more than 25 years I haven't hear it. Back in 1988 I used to play it in my walkman, a special cassette treasure while in Mexican college UNAM. This gems were barely played on radio stations, this sweet was shared with nobody, just to myself. Now, this LIVE version sounds better than studio album but look at the frigid audience of Japan! Where they ignorants of this beauty or simply they were like those rare beautiful women that feel nothing in bed despite having such a great man on bed, performing to his best (Sting and his group).

I sometimes wonder what Jimi Hendrix was thinking when he wrote this 🤔? Maybe about the little Indian brave in "Castles Made of Sand" hmm, don't know never will 😢😢

He's just about the only one who gets the lyrics right. "With a circus mind that's running ROUND " NOT WILD, and everyone says WILD that's wrong 😜

I saw this band on this tour in 88, Kenny was pure fire, he was 33 but looked 53 and very conservative. His playing had everything, I'd never have guessed he was a massive coke user.
