I have loved whitechapel since I was a teenager. Phil Bozeman's vocals inspired me to do the same. He's my hero. I hope he comes out of his depression. He stopped touring. Get well phil
@stiffnuts42024 күн бұрын
I discovered Whitechapel with their song ‘The Somatic Defilement’ and always thought the slurping an empty slushy vocals at the beginning were funny, but hearing Saw at a certain time of my life made me into the deathcore daddy I am now, not to mention my surprise when I heard Phil’s cleans on ‘Bring Me Home’. Chapel is like top shelf whiskey, some taste like sweet vanilla bliss, some make your eyes squint because you can’t understand the wormwood smoke and how it’s supposed to be enjoyable. I think in terms of deathcore as a whole, This Is Exile might be a top 5 deathcore album for me, alongside Epilogue by To The Grave and Remote God Seeker by PSYCHO-FRAME (no particular order.) Also nice Silent Planet shirt, they go hard as hell.

I was like you, only listening to few songs from The Valley and the song Saw Is The Law. And when The Kin came out it was peak music for me and still is. I fucking love that album with all my heart. Then I started listening to older albums, going from newest to oldest. That's when I started loving old Deathcore music and slowly fell in love with Phill's vocals. Now they are my favorite band and (for me) became peak music, especially in story telling in last two albums.

Whitechapel is probably one of the best deathcore bands out there! I originally got into them with their 2012 self titled album, but they never really would grab me again until they started doing clean vocals. The Valley and Kin are their two best records, full stop.

It's cool they were able to pull this EP together in 2 weeks. The focus coming off clean leads makes this project blend into a sea of breakdown metal that doesn't do a lot for me. Buf I'm glad theyre happy with how this turned out and I'm sure these songs will kill live.

I grew up with DEP and ETID, i preferred DEP before greg myself. When ETID broke up i was super bummed out. They were a band that got better over time as i grew up it felt like they did too. So i knew what came after would be amazing. Was not dissapointed with both projects that came after And greg will forever remind me of a hard core (as in the genre) Mike patton

I have a similar adventure with Dillinger and ETID; got into them way after their break ups. Absolutely in love with these guys. I got into Imminence with the release of 'Turn The Light On', an album that I still think is SEVERELY underrated and more unique than it is given credit for. Architects is a strong influence on Imminence and admittedly so from the band. Ever since then they have definitely crafted their own formula musically and lyrically and kind of stick to it (ie: cliche lyrical hooks, screaming the title of the song in the chorus or breakdown call out, repeated phrases) and fell off a little for me. 'The Black' does follow that formula but there's a few creative twists and turns they threw that made it a enjoyable listen for me. I fully agree with the analysis of it feeling too grandiose all the time and by the end of it as you eloquently put it, had no heartstrings left to pull on. To the your point about guitars on 'The Black' I dont think Imminence has ever really had a strong focus on the guitar riffs themselves unlike Architects where they were THE initial draw- they've always been there to highly the atmosphere or vocals of the songs. Eddie and Sam do have a lot of similarities in vocal technique, but Eddie still has a very distinct voice from Sam's and overall I think shows MUCH more range than Sam does with cleans especially, Sam's cleans especially on newer records are pretty one-noted and grating for me. I recently discovered your channel and have been enjoying it! Good video, you hit the nail on the head with the Henrik Udd reference.
@James.Hackett2 ай бұрын
Hey dude, thank you for making this, you hit the nail on the head there! Well done! 👍 To touch on a couple of things you mentioned there and maybe answer some questions; - If you buy the physical album from the labels own store, the money goes to the label, who were amazing to us and deserve all our support, without them the record wouldn't have been able to have the production quality that it has. So rest assured, if you buy the album from their store, it's going to good people 😃 - With Holloween, that show isn't happening, we were very clear from the day we left that nobody would be playing this show. We were then told by him that that's fine because we will just be replaced by session musicians. That, or, he was going to do it solo acoustic. We were in the dark as much as everybody else from that point on, until we started seeing comments on the facebook fan page that people were being refunded their tickets, (which caused a lot of confusion as to if it was happening or not). It wasn't until much later on that it was made public that the whole event had been cancelled. - The pictures you used where you said Toby had been cropped out. He's not cropped out, he just didn't want to hang with us. I really didn't want any of this, I was hoping things could be mended but unfortunately after the last EU tour we did it was certain that relationships were at an unrecoverable point. I'm still gutted about it and I wish we were out on tour right now, (we should have been in Munic, DE as I type this). But for Gaz & I we're going from climbing one steep mountain with Hollow after the previous mass split to now climbing an even steeper one trying to get a whole new band together and off the ground! The support we've had from Hollow fans and people within the industry has been nothing short of amazing, so a big thank you to all of them for sticking by us. I started writing again from the day our statements dropped and i'm more determined that ever to get back out there again as soon as possible! No one person is going to ruin music for me 🙌 And thank you to you for taking time out of your day to make content about Hollow etc. You did a fantastic job putting it together too, well done 👏 If anyone wants to stay up to date on the new band the best place for that is on my insta James_Hackett__ 🖤

Got it, it did feel like that last show was DOA, but seeing Spotify keep promoting it did confuse me. And I figured he wasn't in those photos to begin with as opposed to being retconned. Godspeed to you boys on whatever comes next. Needless to say I'm rooting for the next project to go well, because going through what you did deserves something else to go right. <3

Such a good video, thanks for making it. There’s so much more to it which I guess is to be expected. As Matt’s wife I watched from the side lines and honestly you can’t write half the shit Toby put them through. It all ended when they asked to literally just see the band accounts and Toby refused to show them. Turned out he was stealing thousands of pounds as well as being extremely controlling. This guy literally tells his partner he’s an actual angel and the reason he needs to go on tour is to heal people with his voice lmao. The god complex is on another level.

@@JacobAndrsnhey Matt here 👋 you hit the nail on the head with this video dude, I’m so sorry to you and the entire fanbase that we couldn’t make it work but he was absolutely impossible to work with, false promises, the way he spoke to us on tour like we were his slaves and the fact none of us were ever compensated in any way was just far too hard to continue working with him. He hasn’t ever made any kind of genuine apology to us or the fans either which makes it even worse, I’m not suprised though. Either way thanks for making this video though! Oy, I was excited for this comeback being a big fan of Burn in the Flood. I remember seeing all the hate when Tobias wanted to revive the band. I was cheering him on, i wanted this to be a story of passion and determination overcoming the odds. In retrosepct, perhaps he would've been better off closing the chapter on OHOH and starting a new project.

I didn’t really know the whole story of how the band re-broke up this year. Man, that whole thing feels scummy. Right when they were going to release their best album (in my honest opinion), too.* * I was not really a fan of their old stuff. The heavily British accented screams didn’t do anything for me.
