Have watched a dozen or so of the Top 10/Top 5 AOTY videos and this is the first one I've seen mention Polaris. I was introduced to Polaris with their Fatalism album shortly after it released and its slowly become one of my favorite metal albums and is my personal AOTY. Great video, definitely agree with most of your comments.
@JacobAndrsn11 ай бұрын
I think longtime fans of Polaris got spoiled with their early releases being so good that any modern releases might feel to some like they’re always playing catch-up. Fatalism still slaps, but I can get why it wouldn’t top some people’s charts. Glad you like it!

I have been watching your r6 channel since the beginning and it's time to see in the background or your Video your guitars and some periphury album and I'm really interested to hear you talking about metal and here we are super cool that happened

Check out In Flames 2023 release Foregone. That album is banger man! It's my 2023 album of the year. In Flames returns to form and captures the energy and awesomeness of their early to mid 2000's sound, but modernized. Start with the track "Meet Your Maker".

man, you are a born KZbinr. seems like most commenters can agree. now it would be silly of me to yuck anyone else's yum (unless it's Kid Rock or Tom MacDonald) so i'll skip discussing *opinions* about metal genres. but i do take umbrage with Periphery's album title "Djent Is Not a Genre" because i gotta say all of the bands you pointed out here sound like they're in the exact same sub-genre of metal. i can't really tell a difference among them; but to be fair, a person could easily claim that my top 10 albums of the year (death metal) are guilty of the same thing. the content is great, i wish you nothing but success, and if you ever dip your toes into death metal or some of the other sub-genres, i will be right here watching.

Nothing wrong with a little tongue-in-cheek silliness for an album title, honestly it eventually grew on me lol

Im surprised you think that Heavener isn't memorable To me, its riffs and vocals, lyrics, make each song distinct. It's interesting to see you have such a different take! I personally dont agree with its lack of memorability. To me, it has many memorable moments, even outside of the singles (absence persistent, that intro is so feely. Emberglow, that breakdown and chorus is too heavy. reverie, is soft with vocals that are easy to repeat, not to mention it's lead in to Immolation of Night. Purity Weeps and False Meridian with their beautiful choruses, beautiful vocals, and that hard hitting ending in False Meridian) Heavener is insane. My personal AOTY, and interesting seeing your opinion on it, even if i dont inherently agree. Also, Heavener was released after because it was made after the album, with their new drummer. Heavener grows stronger with time, as even now i keep it on repeat. Much love to Vik and lyricism, Lyrics so great im sure even Garret Russel would blush.

I didn’t say it wasn’t memorable. I said it wasn’t *as memorable* as Greyview to my ears.
@minecraftsteve250410 ай бұрын
@@JacobAndrsn Ohhh, fair enough My apologies for misunderstanding your point Still, I respectfully disagree, but that's because I adore the ambiance that Heavener goes for, over what Greyview consisted of Still nice to see differing view points!

about the heavener one, i gotta say for me the albun didnt blend aswell as greyview, i prefer to listen to the songs in the album just by their own and not shuffle through the album, they just dont match, its like IA made every song in them a banger and if were just looking at albums worth on the amount of bangers in it, then it is the best album of 2023, but yea if were talking about longevity, its one i can forget real soon as opposed to greyview. Now greyview is a fucking masterpiece. Its hard to top that and now it makes even more sense that it is a masterpiece after heavener came out. Greyview is still the best. Altho yea just my opinion everyone is entitled to their own and music is subjective.
