But my starter is very alive, rises to 3 times its start.
@plumbranchhome7 күн бұрын
That's good! If your dough still doesn't rise but your starter does, that indicates your dough needs more time to bulk ferment and proof and/or it needs to be fermented in a warm place. You can do this by: - placing the dough in a turned-off oven with the light on and oven door open, or you can slightly warm the oven to about 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, then turn it off and place your dough inside with the door shut. (never leave the oven on, even on the keep warm setting, with fermenting dough inside. Your dough, for both rises, needs to double) Hope this helps!

Meal planning seems ridiculous, tbh I've never done it. Eating whole foods and baking your own breads will change your life, and your body. I salute you for figuring this out so young.

Molly, I'm a new sub but the two videos I've seen you give us options to not use chemically treated/plastic liners and parchment. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate that. It was a challenge for me to figure out a good way to cook my sourdough without parchment since I know it leaches chemicals, especially at high temps. I wish I'd found you sooner!

Welcome to the channel! So glad you're here and so happy to help!
Hi, I can’t get it to rise. By bread turns out dense. Can you help?
@plumbranchhome25 күн бұрын
Yes I can! There's a few reasons this can happen and how to fix it: Reason #1 Cold Dough - If your dough doesn't look like it's doing anything halfway through the rises, you need to place it in a slightly warmer area. This can be in a turned-off oven with the light on and oven door open, or you can slightly warm the oven to about 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit, then turn it off and place your dough inside with the door shut. Never leave the oven on, even on the keep warm setting, with fermenting dough inside. Your dough, for both rises, needs to double. Reason #2 Weak Starter - If your dough doesn't double in size even in the warmer area, there is a problem with your starter. It is too weak to ferment the dough even in a warm environment. To fix this, you will want to leave your starter out on the counter for 2 days and feed it every 12 hours a 2:1 ratio of unbleached flour to filtered water. For example, 1 cup unbleached flour + 1/2 cup filtered (or bottled) water. This will strengthen the cultures in your starter to give you fluffy baked breads and goods. After the 2 days you can go back to feeding it like usual (once a week if stored in the fridge or once a day if stored on the counter). If you have more questions or need more help let me know! You can reach out at [email protected]

What does 2:1 mean? 1 part starter 2parts flour 1 part water???? So 10g/20g/10g ??????
@plumbranchhome25 күн бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, a 2:1 ratio means 2 parts flour to 1 part water. You can use this ratio for any measurements, the amount will depend on the size of your sourdough starter jar. But here's an example: 1 cup flour + 1/2 cup water (you can convert those measurements into grams if desired)

Wow! That looks ultra delicious 😋😋😋. Is the honey at the flour mixing stage necessary and the added sugar with the apple…can it be omitted too? Love to try this without sugar🤔
@plumbranchhomeАй бұрын
Thank you so much! The honey and sugar aren't absolutely necessary so you can leave them both out if you'd like. The honey enriches the bread to make it a little sweet and the sugar makes the filling a little sweet.
@MaryJordan-f7c The recipe is linked right here in the comments (above yours) as stated in the short video. This link will take you over to the blog where you'll find the complete recipe. If the link is unclickable just copy and paste it in your web browser.
