Thank you for this, Rebecca! This really resonates with me. Personally, feeling behind is a mix of comparison and falling short of where I'd hoped to be at a certain point. That's why something like "Tick, Tick… Boom!" hit so close to home. Most often, these comparisons are unfair and hardly applicable to where we are today, and that realisation helps. So many of our hurdles are of our own making.

oof, yes, I watched "Tick, Tick...Boom!" with TEARS in my eyes - repeatedly! What a great reference for this conversation. I'm right there with you! ❤

hi there rebecca -- i guess you came recommended to me on the heels of a few infp channels i subscribe to ( i am definitely in the tribe ) -- but i don’t think i would have detected your ' infp - ness ' ( ha ) if not for the comment here . ( just because identifying people’s mbti types isn’t what my brain instinctively does . ) ANYWAY , i’ve been loving some of the points you’ve been making , particularly around knowing exactly what has happened in your personal story & giving yourself grace based on that .... i checked out june falling down & really enjoyed it . the whole thing felt so cohesive & organic , w / some really beautiful moments & performances . . . i think you brought the right directorial tone / touch . really nice paintings too . seems as though you were blessed with a wide array of artistic gifts ! all the best . - mark in california p.s. loved the sf scenes - & cool to see marin county - my home base - get a little shout out …. cheers

Mark, thank you so much for this - what an incredibly kind and thoughtful comment. Really appreciate you checking out June and my paintings, that means a lot. :-) I was in SF/Berkeley for about a year and a half a long long time ago, hope to get back sometime, love it there! Thank you again!

I resonate alot with your insights into finding our "place" in this "world".... and overcoming societal expectations and benchmarks.... I have always been drawn to the road less traveled ... as an environmental outdoor educator .... director of ed for a great lakes schooner .... now a special ed teacher.... but feeling the need to become a writer to get my ideas of a new model for schools and communities. I have been discover inspiration and comfort in myers-briggs personality videos on youtube... I'm definitely an infp personality type. You seem to definitely be a kindred infp spirit.

Thank you for this. Truly. ❤ It put in mind the line from the animated Hunchback of Notre Dame movie, where Laverne tells Quasimodo "If watching is all you're gonna do, then you're gonna watch your life go by without you." Watching this video of yours had me remember how much being productivity-oriented had me feeling like I was always stuck on the outside of my own life. It wasn't me living for me, it was me living for productivity. Your words reminded me of how I feel every time I get to truly put myself wholly into being alive, and not watching how it all goes from the sidelines, just because I need to be up-and-at-'em! for the next task demanded of me. Thank you. ✨ This was exactly what I needed to remember that I need to be present for myself too.

That's so funny, I was *just* thinking about that movie yesterday! And that's such a great way of putting it: "stuck on the outside of my own life." Oh wow, do I feel that! It's so true - productivity starts to feel like it isn't about us at all! It's just like being on this mindless track designed by others. Love all of this - thank you so much for sharing! 🌞
