8:15 To prevent brake line failure I make sure the hose is long enough so I can spin the backwards and then 90 deg. So far I've not broken a brake line in a crash. But you seem to have plenty of brake line. But I've heard braided hoses handle crashes better. But I've not tried it yet.
@TheShredShedMTB4 күн бұрын
Definitely helps! That’s a lot of brake line for a front brake though! I for sure do that on my DJ where I only have a rear brake

Same! Personally, I wish more resorts in the lower peninsula were open to bike parks in the summer. Michigan has more ski resorts than almost every other state, but very few have bike parks.

At that beach, there are several reservable camp sites that are pretty cool. They all have an iron grated half-dome structure you can hang a hammock from. I backpacked that a few years ago and it was awesome! (and I ALWAYS step off for bikers to let them pass!)
@TheShredShedMTB13 күн бұрын
those sites looked awesome! to my knowledge, walkers have the right of way- I always exit the trail regardless of who is coming just of out common courtesy. however, I did sense a bit of irritability in that interaction...

The loops you rode are my favorite trails in the Bentonville area. So bummed they are all currently closed. Beautiful, fast, fun, flowy, with just enough exposure and tech to keep it interesting.

Should probably note in the description or something, most of Hobbs is currently closed. They had ~2500 trees knocked down in the Tornado in May of 2024 that took out Bentonville Bikefest. They've got a couple trails back open, and the latest word is that Karst will be open mid-late spring. I'm local-ish. I love the Hobbs trails and can't wait for them to be back open.

Great see you posting again! Awesome Trail, I like that shale rock on the edge of the cliff pretty cool looking when riding across that log don't know if I would have done that! It's funny you mention e-bikes cuz I actually just went out and bought one cuz I realized how old I am. I went to the UK and rode at a bike park in Wales, 3500 FT elevation change I was hurting and somebody let me their Ebike an I realized that's what I needed!
Ya me looking at the 2 bikes my older kids no longer ride but say to keep them just in case and my son stores his Honda Grom motorcycle in front of my work bench. Well I can't work there now can I? He recently moved out too. Time to put those bike hooks I've had for 10 years to use now since our move 2 years ago and I need the space so I cam move the motor cyle to use the work bench. Oh the joys of owning a house and having kids. Then to build a shed n the back yard this next spring! You know a place for the bikes, mower (plus 4 others in the back yard, yes I have a problem), snow blower and an old cabinet from our washroom we had to remove for our deep freeze. Plan to put that in the shed too! Busy, busy! Now where is my stud finder? LOL

I just bought the Gen 2 Ambition X; it comes with a newer saddle than this bike and compressionless brake housings for better braking. I absolutlry love this bike I have only been out on two short rides due to the rain in Scaramento but so far I couldn't be happier! I purchased the thru-axle and tubeless wheelset for an extra $400.

for those of us in apartments with Sheetrock walls.. there isn't much we can do to support the weight of the bike.. and sheetrock or even concrete ceilings require someone that can find a stud or drill concrete to install a lag bolt..
@TheShredShedMTB3 күн бұрын
100% correct-you need to find a stud, not just attach to drywall. I do have a video in the works which will offer some options that don’t drill into the wall. Stay tuned 👍🏼

can the tape removal remove the paint of the bike?
@TheShredShedMTB3 ай бұрын
Possibly… not in my experience, but I’m sure it cold if the paint/clear coat has been compromised in any way. For example, my wife’s bike has an issue with the clear coat and I’m sure some of that would peel up when removing her frame protection.

put the hooks at an acute left or right angle into the 2x4 on the wall so the bikes hang against the wall and slight downward angle for the hooks to make it easier to catch the rim. the hooks wont be mad that they arent perpendicular to the wall and not horizontal to the floor. We humans always want everything square and level to make a box.

What would you suggest for carbon frames? Definitely not putting a heat gun near it, it will melt the resin in the fibrer and weaken it
