Certainly very interesting to see. I would guess that this was some sort of maintenance test which Lufthansa opted to carry out on this empty ferry flight. It's quite common for airlines to utilise these sorts of flights to perform checks. Looking at the approach radar data the first approach was stabilised well before the minima and while the gear was extended later than usual. It still appeared to be fully extended by the 500 foot landing gate. It would be interesting to find some official info on this one but that's my 2 cents!

Oh that’s interesting, thanks! It makes sense now. I’ve never seen anything like it before, but it was interesting to see. I know that the crew requested a missed approach, but it surprised me with the gear coming down quite a bit later than usual 😅.

Wow, great catch. Could've been another Pakistan International Airlines flight 8303 type accident, I'm sure Lufthansa will investigate

Thanks! Apparently the crew requested a missed approach, I'm not sure at what point exactly they did though. I was zoomed in on it since it started its approach to the airport, hoping to catch the gear coming down. I didn't expect it to happen this late though!

Amazing! 😊 Don’t know if you just saw the Lufthansa arrive from Frankfurt, I saw it for my window but what on Earth happened? Gear down dangerously late, go around last second, did they forgot or was it intended? I assume it’s here for re spray/engineering but I’m not sure the go around and gear down late was intended 😮

Thanks! I was there, and recorded it all. I will upload a video this evening. I thought that I would bring my other camera that has lots of zoom, to try and get the gear coming down... turns out I didn't need that amount of zoom !! Then it did a go around right above where I was stood, and came in for another approach, with the wheels down much earlier that time..
