Still one of my favorite aircraft to operate as cabin crew back in my AirUK days ❤
@norwichaviation5 күн бұрын
Nice! There is an AirUK Fokker F27 aircraft in the aviation museum next to Norwich Airport currently.

@norwichaviation I remember them too - just not with the same affection 🤣 Which aircraft is it?
@norwichaviation5 күн бұрын
G-BHMY - There are some photos of it online, taken from the museum.

@norwichaviation I remember her very well passing through ABZ in the late 80s and early 90s heading down the east coast and over to SVG and BGO in Norway. The sad thing is she'll probably still be there in a museum long after I'm gone 😆

This rugged plane can land and take off where others will have to give up - especially in very bad weather conditions - have saved my ass several times especially in the northern atlantic region ...

Brilliant footage of this legendary aircraft. We used to have tons of them at ZRH but nowadays it has become a privilege to see them!

Thank you, the Avro RJ is one of my favourite aircraft! It’s a shame that there aren’t many of them about anymore. I’m hoping that Norwich Airport will get a few more visit next year. 👍

Thanks! That is one of my favourite videos that I have ever recorded :) It used up quite a bit of the runway, especially for being an empty aircraft with no one onboard!

Holy shit shit - summit Air at 1:02 had a hell of a cross wind there. Nicely managed though.
@norwichaviation8 күн бұрын
Yes, I think the crosswind was over 30 KTS at the time of recording that! I thought that it might go around at one point 😅

I never understood why these had 4 small engines instead of 2 bigger ones producing the same thrust, Surely maintenance would be cheaper with 2 engines?
@norwichaviation5 күн бұрын
I'm not completely sure either, so after a quick google search, this seems to be the reason: " Four engines make steep approaches and short take-offs safer (in the event of an engine being lost, 75% of total thrust is still available)"
@brecklander4 күн бұрын
Also back in the day, there were limitations on twin engine aircraft flying extended trips over water. I believe the 146 fell out of favour in the US because pilots of 4 engine aircraft had to be paid more than they got flying twins like the 737.

Great video mate What’s going on with the Tenerife flight have you seen? 😟
@norwichaviation9 күн бұрын
Thank you! I'm not sure why it was delayed so much, but it just departed a few minutes ago. Apparently some engineers were looking at it. I went to try and get a night photo of it, but it started taxiing out only 10 seconds before I got there :(
