Around 3:30 mark reminds me of the intro music on Enter the Dragon.

What size string? Round wound or flat? I got everything to make one. Primitive Genius!!!!
@AndreasBrink3 күн бұрын
If I remember correctly it was a roundwound phosphor bronze A-string.

I’m still pretty green to the blues game and self taught so far. I’m curious about your structure; it doesn’t seem like it fits the 12 step blues.
@AndreasBrink7 күн бұрын
I just write and it turns out as it turns out. When I count this song now the first round is 20 bars which could be some kind of record! Back in the early 1900s before the 12 bar structure was established blues tunes could be 10, 13 or even 11 1/2 bars long so anything is possible. If it sounds good it is good.
@davidhick43037 күн бұрын
@@AndreasBrinknice thanks for the reply! Definitely sounds good. I guess it shows how programmed I am when I keep expecting a turnaround in the exact spot. But I agree it does sound good regardless. I have just played around and made up random stuff like that before I got set into 12 bar so I can relate.

Yes, especially for slide it's a bit tricky since there are no major or minor chords easily available. Open D - as I use in this video - is perhaps better suited for slide.

Realized it was open D within seconds. Great work & articulation. Real nice tonality…love the 12 bar & turnaround, too! Regarding your sweet guitar; what’s the scale length, width at the nut & is that a floating bridge? Did you make your own bottleneck? What thumbpick do you use? Thanks 🇨🇦
@AndreasBrink13 күн бұрын
Thanks! That guitar have a 630mm scale length, nut width ca 45mm and it does ahve a floating bridge.This was over a decade ago, but it could be a Slick thumbpick. The bottleneck was bought on Ebay from a seller called bim6 who makes these things.

Ah... thank you for replicating the pick! I searched through 4 or 5 bass tabs for Wichita Lineman and all were fingerpicking it and I knew that she was a picker. Great to watch the string motion to see how the pick flowed. I'm not really a bassist but was very interesting in how that all worked.
@AndreasBrinkАй бұрын
Thanks! Carol Kaye certainly played with a pick. Her technique was a bit different than mine and a big part of her sound on these old recordings were flatwound strings.
