ACOUSTIC DELTA BLUES GUITAR - Heartbreak hotel (FREE TABS) Crossnote tuning

I've always liked this old Elvis tune, and I thought it would be interesting to do a blues guitar take on it. The tuning is open D minor, a k a cross note tuning. You can get a free transcription in tablature and standard notation here:

The fingers on my left hand have decided to stop cooperating - probably the result of poor practice habits). I am going to give this a shot with a slide. You version is fairly simple and a couple of alterations should make this playable. Thanks for the PDF. D minor = DADFAD (minor 3rd f ) I'm going to look up the term 'cross note tuning'

Give it a shot! Crossnote tuning is just another term for this tuning (and E minor tuning).

@@AndreasBrink ...I'm glad I ran across your video. Simple concept on the guitar. I am guessing Em tuning works well with G major songs ? I had been playing blues harp (since I was a kid) not realizing that the only material I was able to make sound right was the blues because I was playing 'cross harp' in a different tuning. I thought there was some magical thing to that. Now I think it's all just connected to matching the 1 chord to the minor 6 chord. I didn't then and still don't know what notes I'm playing on the harp - I just know that there is a major/minor interval difference between the key of the song and the proper choice of the key the harp is tuned to. Bend the right notes in the song and it sounds great -That's it.
