Question: What's the max payload the side stand can hold? This has always been my main concern. The GSA is heavy, and parking on the side stand isn't exposing as much pressure on the stand and its connections as when you lift and rotate.
@clintonsmout11302 ай бұрын
great question! The BMW side stand is very strong but, after demonstrating this dozens of times on my GSA to students, i noticed that I had widened the top of the side stand jaw where it mounts to the frame. I took it off and used a bench vise to bend it back and have been more gentle when pivot turning.

Thank you very much for this great video! Maybe one day I'll own a GS like my neigbour has. I'm only 20 and just started riding last year on a little Yamaha MT-03 660cc 1 Cylinder which shares the engine with the Yamaha XT660Z Tenere so the adventure bike spirit is there haha. Keep them coming! Cheers from Germany!

there is no such thing as small bike or big bike.....it's the rider who makes the bike in term of capabilities and types of trips....I had a 110cc bike , I went everywhere with it, my trips were always around 1700 km, I rode day and night ,and enjoyed everything with it, now I have a falcon 400cc, so I let you imagine what I'm doing with it ...bought it Tuesday and the weekend I went thought the forest for a whole day with it.....keep riding , bro , but keep riding safe , cheers <3

@What about legs and weighting pegs. This is a maneuver you can't do with alot of weight on the bars. Learn to ride w/ legs and input knee into side and weight pegs etc. I can tell this guy rode Motocross b4...
@ciocanul2 жыл бұрын
You can do it either sitting or standing, there is little difference. The transition from brake to power slide feels more violent when you are sitting, kind like a high side. From my experience, you want to have your body weight as forward as possible, so that the back wheel looses traction more easily.

Can you do it on asphalt?
@conroygreyfin70114 жыл бұрын
If I had the money to throw at it, I would definitely give it a go on my cruiser.
@ciocanul2 жыл бұрын
I think there's a higher risk of high-siding on asphalt if you don't throw enough power at it when you release the brake or if you release it too soon.
