Not to be a party pooper but I think you should use a 2x6 for your topper and a vertical board for support. I thought about the brackets as well or using a Kerg jig. Good no fuss build.

I have never used vice grips on a toilet in my life adjustable wrench is ok but better to use 1/4" Drive ratchet with a 9/16 deep socket it will save you 15 minutes also hand tight right h tight left rotate sides with socket n ratchet if you do one side tight then the other side you WILL break the toilet ! also the reason the decrative caps would not snap on is because you have to cut down the extra long closet bolts use 5/16 bolts NOT 1/4" BOLTS after tight cut excess of brass bolts 1/4" above 9/16:" nuts so the decrative caps will snap in to place properly REPLACE old probably dry rotted plastic toilet supply tube with a new stainless steel braided supply tube to avoid leaks after install

I tried the wax that came with my brand new toilet. I ruined it straight away. The wife volunteered to clean the wax of the flange and under the toilet while I went to fetch a Fluidmaster 7530. It went on the floor flange and the toilet went on that with apparently no problem. If I don't see any water on the floor under the bowl, I will consider it a success. So much for my inner plumber being frustrated at this necessary job.
@robertshorthill68362 жыл бұрын
Use a wet / dry shop vac to get rid of water from the tank and bowl trap. Forget the sponge. It takes too long, unless you need to get in touch with your inner plumber. Wait to see what a mess there is under the bowl and why a plumber will charge north of $145 per hour.

I'm hoping you scraped and cleaned off all the old wax from both the floor flange and underside of the toilet ?? Didn't see anything about that in the video, and is very important.
@LoveWhereYouLive2 жыл бұрын
Hi Denny, thank you for watching and great point. I did scrape and cleaned off the old wax which I might have cut out in editing but thank you for pointing out its importance. If there is old wax there could be leaks so it is an important step.

Was looking for inspiration to do a couch table myself and found this. Pre-drilling the holes for the angle brackets was a neat idea. Had bad experience with those in my previous project, so, thanks. And great couch table!

I just bought a new house, I am looking for FLOORING, which one will be better to have tile or wood? There is so many to choose. I have two young kids, I like a house that is more modern looking
@LoveWhereYouLive4 жыл бұрын
I think that wood your best bet for flooring because you can change the finish, it can be stained for a modern look but you can sand it and do a different finish at any time. The tile is great in hot locations but I still think for the main flooring option you will want to go with wood.
