Is a rebuilt engine stronger than the one before rebuild? My legacy has a rebuilt motor and I avoid doing pulls just because it’s a rebuilt motor
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
A rebuilt motor, if done correctly, is perfectly fine to run as hard as you want. If it makes good oil pressure, doesn't make any weird noises, or blow smoke, you're probably fine. Get a compression test for more peace of mind. Why have a quick car if you're not going to use the go pedal, amirite?!
@carlitos.12 жыл бұрын
@@latentwagen8644 the only problem I have is the car is running lean apparently, should I use a lower octane gas? No vacuum leaks or boost leaks, then I’ll do some nice pulls! Thabks
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
@@carlitos.1 if it's running lean you should definitely address that before driving much more at all, let alone running it hard. A fuel pump, injectors, and maybe a pressure regulator would help along with some tuning to make sure your fueling is dialed in... good luck!

Nice sound, but why did you shift so early? Or was that just me seeing things?
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
It was a stock turbo EJ255, so the power band drops off a cliff after 6krpm. In this video it looks like I'm shifting right about 6k, or so, for fastest acceleration. In my BRZ, you would want to redline every gear. The spec B was definitely a torque monster!
@killswitch_disengage2 жыл бұрын
@@latentwagen8644 I see, because my 2.0 likes to pull to 7.5k, so that's why I asked.
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
@@killswitch_disengage for sure, smaller motor with probably a similar sized turbo to my LGT. I had a WRX with an EJ207 that would rev to 8250rpm, spec C with big port heads, but I never got a big enough turbo on there to use all of the revs...
@killswitch_disengage2 жыл бұрын
@@latentwagen8644 wow, sounds awesome. I'm considering swapping to forged internals to run big boost with high compression pistons, also increasing the stroke slightly. According to my calculations, the new displacement will be approximately 2.2l, if I'm right about the math. Will be a project for sure.

@@latentwagen8644 Hello fellow BRZ owner! That’s my fav car hands down. Kinda my dream car atm so I’m currently looking for a used car to hold me over until I can afford one. Was on CarGurus just a bit ago and came across one of theses. Saw it was AWD and it too has a Flat 4 like the BRZ. It’s an auto but I’m not too worried about that, it’ll be my first car so I’m happy with a set a wheels none the less. Obviously I’m not gonna have you compare the two 😆 but was curious as to how you’d rate both cars. Feel free to go into detail if you so choose to, I like reading. But a short response will do too. And thanks for the vid!

That Nav is not that useless at all! You can install backup and front cameras without the need of replace that unit!
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
So what you're saying is, the screen can be modified to fit a backup camera. I agree, but how does that make the circa '05 navigation any good? Maybe if you're navigating a parking space 😁

@@latentwagen8644 yeah! That's the only good thing it has! I already installed a backup camera on mine. But I wish to know a good android radio/nav to replace that actual one.

I've never launched a car personally but why did you pump the gas like you did? Never seen that before
@latentwagen86442 жыл бұрын
Traffic. Waiting for the right window so as not to cut off any drivers while merging. If you're sitting for a while, revving also helps to keep heat in the manifolds, so the turbo is making boost right off the line.

@@regularchannel4696 I don't blame you for wanting one - every time I drive it, I'm grinning! Also have a BRZ and early 944, and this car is just as enjoyable.
