I’m working on a book right now, and I’ve been having trouble pinning down the genre and which it takes place. I have it all set in the medieval fantasy era. However, technology starts to take a sharp turn to the more 70s modern technology at a certain point in the story. Would anyone here know what to classify that as? Maybe it’s a mashup of genres or a new genre entirely? Include rundown mash together, steel punk vehicles with bow and arrows knight,armor, and dragons.

My current long shot gamble is Quadratum and the worlds Sora visits are just video game worlds like Spider-Man, SW Battlefront, even Verum Rex and Wreck it Ralph could fit!Hints from KH3 and before, Verum Rex backdoor pilot, Tron in how many games, Sora being in Game&Watch games, Smash Ultimate, etc.

@moneymaker8815 2 күн бұрын
@@JohnBradford14 You might be able to compare those, but I think Quadratum is more specifically just a video game universe, whereas the Dark Seeker Saga was set in a Disney Movies Universe, I think the Lost Masters Arc is gonna be set in a Video Game Universe. Which is a bit meta because obviously, KH is a video game. But it was a game set in Movie lore. Now, knowing that Sora has the ability to go into Video games (Verum Rex), my wild guess is that Quadratum is like Traverse Town (which is not a Disney World, thus Quadratum doesn't have to be a Video Game world itself).

i dont think there will be disney worlds in kh4. I think you will not go into disney movies instead you go into sqare enix (I think mainly Final Fantasy) games. I mean in the base game kh3 is no FF character to see. We only see them in the Limit cut and nowhere else. And somting that is surly not planned but nomura could redcon it, is the Sepiroth and Cloud Story line that had a sudden end in KH2. They could have went (maybe even back) into there own game. Could be a think. I mean for now we only know about quadratum as a world , wich is from FF versus13.
@JohnBradford14
@JohnBradford14 12 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, Nomura did say that the reason FF characters weren't in KH3 was because he legit couldn't think of anything to do with them. I honestly doubt he'll be able to come up with anything for other FF games, let alone move away from Disney. That would go against everything KH as a franchise stands for.

What about Galaxypunk/Transdimensionalpunk, a sci fi setting set thousands of years in the future where humans have advanced past Kardeshev 2 and are so advanced that they would basically be god and wouldn't even look like regular humans anymore and have advanced to another plane of existence, having uploaded their minds into supercomputers and AI, and have spread out past the Milky Way Galaxy and fight wars with weapons that would atomize a planet/star/solar system/whole galaxy, which to them is just a tiny pistol Basically, Galaxypunk would make an average joe from its setting look like god to us today To help find some potential canditates for Galaxypunk, just google "Fictional universes that can fight Warhammer 40k" Examples for Galaxy Punk include: - Xeelee Sequence - The Culture - The Q from Star Trek - Doctor Who if theyre powerscaled enough

All valid & well-intended points, but you really don't wanna turn Winston, a black man, into a chauffer. In film, the whole point of having an audience surrogate is you don't give him an arc or much of a background so that any member of the audience can relate to them. Therefore, he can't be a founding member of the Ghostbusters. That was the intent w/Winston.

Nanopunk refers to an emerging subgenre of science fiction that is still very much in its infancy in comparison to its ancestor-genre, cyberpunk,[1][2] and some of its other derivatives.[3] The genre is especially similar to biopunk,[4] but describes a world where nanites and bio-nanotechnologies are widely in use and nanotechnologies are the predominant technological forces in society. The genre is mainly concerned with the artistic, psychological,[2] and societal impact of nanotechnology, rather than aspects of the technology which itself is still in its infancy. Unlike cyberpunk, which can be distinguished by a gritty and low-life yet technologically advanced character, nanopunk can have a darker dystopian character that might examine potential risks by nanotechnology as well as a more optimistic outlook that might emphasize potential uses of nanotechnology.[5][4] Film Faction (2020 Film) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989 film) Osmosis Jones (2001 film) The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008 film) G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009 film) Transcendence (2014 film) Ant-Man (2015 film) Television Futurama, "Parasites Lost" (2001) - Fry is infected by miniature droids that increase his intelligence and health, but ultimately chooses to get rid of them. Justice League, "Tabula Rasa" (2003) - The villain, Amazo, is an android composed of nanites that allow him to mimic abilities. Static Shock, "Hoop Squad" (2004) - The villain, Dr. Odium, is a scientist specializing in nanotechnology who was fired for attempting to experiment on humans. Doctor Who, "The Doctor Dances" (2005) - Two ships seen in the episode contain nanogenes that can heal wounds. Generator Rex (2010-2013) - Nanites are central to the premise of the series, in which an accident caused them to spread across the world and infect almost all life. Protagonist Rex Salazar is able to control his own nanites and cure the mutations caused by them, and thus works for the government agency Providence, battling nanite mutants (called E.V.O.S). you sounded like the idiotes at Q5 when they changed the Real Ghostbusters. making Winston the ONLY BLACK guy on the team the driver, that's racist. there is way more to Winston than meets the eye. he's a former marine, worked in construction, is very religious, took night classes to help the business grow, is a registered pilot, and is a loving family man. if you read the IDW comics and the Novelizations of both original movies, these fill in the gap in Winston's backstory, and in the OG script, Winston WAS there from day one and was going to be played by Eddie Murphy. Winston Zeddemore is more than the token black guy, he's a character rich in lore and development that is overlooked by the films.
@JohnBradford14
@JohnBradford14 Ай бұрын
I get what you're saying, however the reason why I wanted for him to have a less complicated backstory is because I want all four members to be less complicated, and thus more time and focus can be placed on them ghost busting. Their character development can then be expanded upon throughout sequels, cartoons, games, etc. I should also note that Winston would not simply be a chauffeur. He'd be the guy who fixes and outfits the car much in the same way Lucius Fox does the Batmobile.
@berniedavis6676
@berniedavis6676 Ай бұрын

The thing is, The Ghostbusters needed Winston as an outsider, because he is a place holder for the audience (aka the empty vessel, just like Neo in The Matrix). He's brand new, just learning the ropes and that gives the writers a chance to explain all the technology, procedures, clean up routines, and other exposition. Winston literally is us, being introduced to the Ghostbusting world. But I do agree that if Winston was a mechanic / engineer, they could still have explained all those details and have him in there the entire time.

I disagree about the line "I love this town" being awkward. New York is the main character of the film. The movie forefronts everyday New York and its inhabitants, and one of its key strengths is how relatable it is, despite its fantastical premise, to ordinary people. Because it forefronts ordinary people and grounds itself in a believable, everyday setting, where people going about their regular mundane lives suddenly find their routines disrupted by paranormal phenomena. As such, New York takes centre stage in just about every scene. So the natural way to end the movie, is with a shout out to the city itself - "I love this town!" And who better to speak that line, than the everyman of the team himself - Winston, the ordinary New Yorker who just happened to get a job with the Ghostbusters. So, in short - Winston is fine as he is, yes it would be nice if he could've been there from the start (as had been the case in the previous script drafts) - but for a character with limited screen time, he's a mighty well-rounded and easily likeable, relatable character played superbly by Ernie Hudson. Top job Ernie, big respect to Winston - don't fix what ain't broke.
