I love these blocks and I am doing the Home Town quilt - I have done 4 house blocks and starting the 5" blocks. But not matter how careful I think I am in cutting and with my seam allowance - with the guides and machine foot etc with pressing open seams etc, but, my accuracy is never as good as yours. Sometimes my blocks are way off size! what on earth am I doing wrong.

Beautiful Lori! Yes, I agree wth you to not leave your stitched treasured pieces with people you dont know or trust, especially chain stores. Our local HL framed one of my pieces 3 times (the same piece) crooked til I took it back from them, laved it and framed it myself. Never agin will I leave a piece with anyone after that debaucle. Again, BEAUTIFUL piece and all was well done Lori. Thank you!

That is so frustrating! I'm glad you got your piece back.

Thanks so much. I do it about the same but have issues moving ‘straightening’ once I have laced it even one way.perhaps I am lacing too tight?

I was taught years ago to do things just as you did, with one addition. After the glue dries on the paper backing, lightly spritz it all over with water and when it dries it will be drum tight. Your work is so lovely. (I never got the need for the pins!)

Oh my goodness Lori!! I can't thank you enough for this lacing video!! I know I can do it now too just by watching you and your tips as you go along!! I know I can always count on you for my go to whatever I'm looking for to finish ANYTHING!! Or learn anything!! You're truly amazing!! And!! I just love this BEAUTIFUL cross-stitch The Lord's Prayer. Your frame is stunning! ABSOLUTELY perfect I say! When I lived in Canada we recited The Lord's Prayer every single morning before school started! Maybe the world would be a better place if we still all recited this BEAUTIFUL Prayer every single day!! 👍 After watching you I'm going to get mine kitted up! Thank you very much Lori!! I appreciate all the time you take in teaching us all you know!! ❤❤ I wish they'd leave the time alone too! Daylight saving drives me nuts!! 🤣🤣 Thank you! ❤

You have encouraged me to try my hand framing my most recent crossstitch using your method. I’ve tried the pin method and it hurts my fingers and is a pain to try and keep the piece even and centered. BTW Your newest quilt book is amazing. I have all your books and they are exceptional.

Lori. Thank you so much for the tutorial, which reminded me of the steps. It has encouraged me to frame my own pieces again. I have three pieces right now that HL framed and the pieces have wrinkled, so I am going to take them apart and restretch them… that is why I enjoyed your video. I needed the encouragement to do it. Your piece is beautiful.

I so appreciate this video Lori. I've laced and framed many of my own pieces but everyone has a slightly different way of doing things and you provided some invaluable tips for making things easier. Can I please ask, though, where you get the paper you used for your backing (I've only ever found the thicker Kraft paper) and the double-sided round stickers you used for your library card? Thanks so much! ~Robin~

Wow Lori this was a fabulous tutorial with a lot of great tips. I always frame my own but never thought of putting my stitch on the backing board but always add my own board and then it is quite tight to fit. Love how you used the paper to make it look professional. Definitely I will try your method as I have a Christmas Teresa Kogut Santa waiting for the frame to arrive from Michaels. Thank you so much.

Lori, I am a certified picture framer with PPFA (Professional Picture Framer Association). I just thought I would toss in some more tips for framing your stitched pieces. The lacing method you demonstrated is the best way to mount your piece. One tip...when first placing your piece as you are centering it on the foam board, you can use straight pins in the edge of the board to tack in place before starting your lace. Once it looks good, you can remove the pins as you start your lacing. Tip two... the little metal tab things that hold the board in the frame are called "push pins" which Hobby Lobby does sell them if you should need more. Tip three...when putting on the paper backing, frame shops us a double sided tape called HTG tape. This is an acid free tap that will allow you to get the paper backing nice and taught and don't have to wait for glue to dry. The most important thing to keep in mind when framing stitched items is to use all acid free materials and you should be able to remove your stitching and get it back to original form. If any glue or adhesive on your piece, it will damage your lovely work. I hope this helps people to enjoy their work for many years.

Thank you for sharing Lori. I especially appreciated your explanation of closeness of lacing. I use brown grocery bags for my backing. I dampen with wet sponge after glue dries and it becomes drum tight when dry.
