I am about 47 and keeping in mind ...to get a land lot with conifer trees along a saltwater lake in Nova Scotia. (There is a duck parasite in freshwater lakes...along the shore when heats up, so always good to find land with swimming areas where rivers cycle out the water.) Staying flexible with home options, so one day, may put up a very toasty in winter hemp block tiny house...and pull a 30' car hauler with gooseneck for various town trips. So if able you get time in favorite natural area with buildsite and use modular trailer for loading construction, gardening, or shopping bundles. Long enough to add solar air conditioning to have bed in the gooseneck...with a Jotul firebox, stovepipe and esp particle smoke filter for overnight stays. Just idea, a plan to keep interior simple with small oak barrels for fresh and dishwater. Dry toilet...so no winterizing needed. Maybe keep electric cooler in truck cab with blanket over it.

If you were trying to get into Glidden Lake, there is no way you're going to get in there with that truck and trailer.
@Live2dayWanderland
@Live2dayWanderland 6 күн бұрын
@@jimbeaumont1353 yeah lower Glidden I read someone talking about camping near it and it sort of looks possible on the satellite map but of course it's always different when you actually get out on the trail. So not even with the truck? Too wide?
@jimbeaumont1353
@jimbeaumont1353 5 күн бұрын
@@Live2dayWanderland The truck isn't too wide to get in there, but you will definitely get lots of pinstripes on it. The road is narrow. It also wouldn't be lots of fun running into another vehicle on the road to the lake. There's barely enough room for one and not many places to pass. I shouldn't say there is no way, but it's probably not worth it.

Oh hey neighbor sort of lol We have seen some of your stuff recently, very cool to see another Midwestern youtuber, canoeist etc. We have so much more to learn lol biggest challenge is getting the dog to chill. We are hoping to do another canoe trip soon, looking forward to fall. I am a freelance videographer so they are pretty high end cinema cameras and lenses. Mixed with some go pro, I am not trusting enough of us staying dry in the boat to use them during the paddling. Maybe we will cross paths/portages one day lol Thanks for the kind words

@@Apeaceofthewoods and for Lulu to just plop down like that is rare, she hardly ever stops and of course it was when we tried to get the tent going. It is fun to overcome stuff and challenge yourself but safety is a big thing, we learned we need to take a few things more serious. Don't worry about your camera stuff, I started with only a gopro years ago and am completely self taught, I love filming and trying to be different. So many huge channels though just use a gopro and phone etc. I tinker with color grading as well more now. You will be progress so much the more you do it. We watch Xander Budnick and Lost Lakes and it always makes me nervous how they just throw the camera and tripod setup in the boat and film along the way, I guess it helps though that they make enough to replace them easily lol Very cool to have met you on here.

Great info - thanks! I have the Clam 11x11 and love it, but I also like the extra features of this Deerfamy. Have you used it during any significant rain storms? The center of my Clam has collapsed a couple of times when there was a lot of rain. Wondering how the Deerfamy would hold up.
@Live2dayWanderland

So it did rain on this trip and held up fine, it was not a huge rainstorm but was very windy. The only thing I noticed was a little sag and pocket of water just above the door but I think that is because we didn't have that section staked down tighter and the rain fly taut. Can you trust the Fed Gov to be basically for your needs?? The old company mines used to get employees same way but once there kept upping or changing arrangements to where employees became dependent like surfs in olden days. I have not heard anything about them limiting it. We spoke to a guy there who said he counted around 85 rigs. I have friends that stopped there recently on a Friday night and it was not that crowded. I actually think that maybe during the week it's busier due to people traveling cross country to a weekend destination and only using it as a quick layover which is what we did. There are no mistakes on a camping canoe trip. There are no schedules beyond what the weather permits. If the wind is blowing,, you stay right there. "I have to be at work on Monday !" If you are dead,, you will not be at work. Wilderness, implies a long list of taking enough, or a spare. I carry enough repair materials for the canoe, that I have bragged that I could saw the canoe in half,, and repair it sufficiently to get home. I carry a variety of clothing, extra food,, and lots of paperbacks to sit and read and enjoy the day.
