OMG!! Loved this. Looks like you salvaged a good time. Our first canoe trip, we brought so much extra food because I was not going to go hungry! Now we only bring an extra day's worth of food. And we always bring clothes to layer - never trust a forecast. Our first Boundary Waters trip was 40 and rain for 4 days with white caps the first day. It really makes for good memories when you're somewhere warm and dry. I'm jealous that you've been out on a canoe trip already this year. It is SOOO difficult to dial down the filming gear. It all seems essential. - bean

Well yea and we should no better about being up north, it can always get colder, I forget though that 40 in the teardrop is way different than in a ground tent and wind plus it got down to literally trying to smash everything in the bags and get them closed and seemed like we didn't have any extra room, a set of long johns will always stay in the bag from now on and at least the puffy coats. Drives me nuts only carrying one of my cameras and pairing down lenses, I like to drag half a movie studio into woods normally lol. Hope you guys get out soon, it was awesome despite the cold. I think we will try our first multi day and portage in that same area later in the year before we tackle BWCA. Looking forward to more of these though, there is something about being way out even further than most go. Thanks for stopping by, tell Chet we said hi

Love this video! It’s so rare to come across other beginner canoe campers. I’m excited to see more of this…You both handled the challenges well ☺️ Also…what camera do you use? This is some of the best video quality I’ve seen
@Live2dayWanderland2 ай бұрын
Oh hey neighbor sort of lol We have seen some of your stuff recently, very cool to see another Midwestern youtuber, canoeist etc. We have so much more to learn lol biggest challenge is getting the dog to chill. We are hoping to do another canoe trip soon, looking forward to fall. I am a freelance videographer so they are pretty high end cinema cameras and lenses. Mixed with some go pro, I am not trusting enough of us staying dry in the boat to use them during the paddling. Maybe we will cross paths/portages one day lol Thanks for the kind words

@@Live2dayWanderland 😂 I was cracking up when you were putting up the tent and the dog was ready to chill right on top of it. I’ve got a lot to learn also so it’s really cool to see you guys overcome challenges like this. Helps me think through and plan for similar scenario’s (actually getting stuck) ok that makes sense…feel a little bit better about myself because my camera loos nothing like that! I’m already one camera down so I get it lol. Anyway, I hope so. Until then best of luck to you both!

@@Apeaceofthewoods and for Lulu to just plop down like that is rare, she hardly ever stops and of course it was when we tried to get the tent going. It is fun to overcome stuff and challenge yourself but safety is a big thing, we learned we need to take a few things more serious. Don't worry about your camera stuff, I started with only a gopro years ago and am completely self taught, I love filming and trying to be different. So many huge channels though just use a gopro and phone etc. I tinker with color grading as well more now. You will be progress so much the more you do it. We watch Xander Budnick and Lost Lakes and it always makes me nervous how they just throw the camera and tripod setup in the boat and film along the way, I guess it helps though that they make enough to replace them easily lol Very cool to have met you on here.

Hey guys, the U.P. was one of our biggest flubs. A hike around lake of the clouds. A muffin for food and a bottle of coke. We misread the map for distance and didn't plan for elevation changes. 13 miles turned into 19+ and ten hours till we saw the truck again. McD's in Wi was the only food around and open. Speaking of food Knorr chicken and rice with a can of chicken is a standard with us.
@Live2dayWanderland4 ай бұрын
lol oh man that sounds painful, I would have just died right there and given up. Yeah the chicken and rice worked out well and hit the spot. We will have to try that again. One day we need to do a BWCA trip together but we gotta get a little more practice and I need to be less fat lol thanks for stopping in buddy

There are no mistakes on a camping canoe trip. There are no schedules beyond what the weather permits. If the wind is blowing,, you stay right there. "I have to be at work on Monday !" If you are dead,, you will not be at work. Wilderness, implies a long list of taking enough, or a spare. I carry enough repair materials for the canoe, that I have bragged that I could saw the canoe in half,, and repair it sufficiently to get home. I carry a variety of clothing, extra food,, and lots of paperbacks to sit and read and enjoy the day.

I’m no videographer… too much work for m e 😃, but I do have a Fuji gfx 100, it has a xpan wide aspect built in which is really nice, as it works with all lens. You don’t need 102mp for video, but I believe all of their cameras have it built in
