I wonder what the Philosophy behind the strokes are I’m a fellow practitioner however I know whenever we practice our kata we are tight to allow less opportunity of attack is there a philosophy or mentality for the broad swings?

Hi, I practice Toyama Ryu in Poland. Are those cuts so deeply from behind an integral element of Yamaguchi ha katas?
@ossu.entertainment5761
@ossu.entertainment5761 9 жыл бұрын
Yes they are! We concentrate on a big enkeisen trajectory and accelerating the kissaki mostly to the point of impact... litteraly Kirioroshi... meaning Cutting-Falling! Thank you for your Question! Toyama Ryu Battodo is very interesting, and I like tring myself at the kata sometimes... I am stying currently in Japan again, for further study! Cheers

Thank You very much for the answer. Another one... Are there any kumitachi forms, other than basic Toyama Ryu, in Yamaguchi ha curriculum?
@MarcusMaximus65

And more questions.. :) Do You practice in any official Yamaguchi ha school? Have You ever heard about Yamaguchi ha style schools in Europe? Do You practice tameshigiri? If I understand properly... are You godan master?

Its basically the teachings of sojutsu(spear), using a gun with a bajonett attached to the barrel. japanese made use of a thousand years warrior culture in creating systems for modern close quater combat. Happonme at 4:50 is the only sen no sen kata. a kata with the initial attack coming from my side, thus featuring a kiai o stunn my opponent long enough to cut him down.I discussed a lot with my Senseis in Japan. It is initial but maybe a reaction to a hiden threat in the others behaviour! Ossu

Hallo! Thanks for the Questions! Tayama Ryu was created in the 1920s of the 20th century for the Toyama Military school. A number of reknown Koryu Masters of that time were to create a compact set of kata for the battlefield demands of that time, making it possible to teach officers, wearing a gunto, to deal with enemies from all directions and get used to wielding the katana. So there are only 8 tachi waza, plus another 10 okuiai advanced techniques. Jukendo was another adaption of that time.

Dear Ossu entertainment, Nice embu, very stable! I have two questions; Is everything standing up in Toyama ryu? and second; I was wondering what the riai is behind the kata starting at 4:50?
