Very few. With experience and knowledge one can avoid such things... I don't remember when I broke the last one. But it happens, especially on broadleaves.

Thanks for the video, can you explain more about the process of heating the wire? It sounds like a cheaper option than buying copper "bonsai" wire

I found this method in Colin Lewis's book, Bonsai Basics. It really works. I collect and strip scrap electrical wire, then heat it in the same process. I have never bought bonsai wire!

@@jeffhurst4744 copper is much sturdier than aluminium, so one can use smaller wire for the same effect. But it is much harder to wire the branch with it.

Pretty dammed good. Your welding would be better if you cleaned( ground) the contaminates away from the weld site . Paint and rust. I'll have to give that charred wood a go .🐱
