What month was this filmed? Recently? I’m surprised at the lack of snow. Great vid though

@@jei_lee Last July. I probably should put the dates in the description. Thanks!

what mapping app you using?
@jbhikes128815 күн бұрын
The 3d map tours in the video are generated using the rumbo.world website. For route planning and navigation, I used Caltopo plus routes loaded on a Coros GPS watch.

Your traveling companions don't seem to say much, do they? But incredibly scenic hiking...thanks! Might get out there someday...

This part of the trip was definitely a grind, so my sons weren't necessarily in the mood to be on video. Glad you enjoyed the scenery!

Great videos JB! Looking forward to the upcoming days. Can you tell me what gpx flyover app you are using for the tracking. Looks like Relive but not sure. Also the wavy white route lines, that is so useful, ...how are you doing that? Cheers!
@jbhikes12882 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback! The gpx flyover is from the website rumbo.world. The animated tracked line is done in Davinci Resolve in the Fusion editor. It took a while to learn but there are plenty of video tutorials on how to do this. Hope this helps!

I'm very interested in doing the same day 4 route that you did. Can you post your route map (GPS) somewhere.

Here is the Caltopo link for the entire planned trip. I also have tracks loaded for the off-trail days. caltopo.com/m/N6FMQ I'd also recommend Roper's Sierra High Route book. This route follows his through this section.

How well did those solar panels work? Did they top up the portable battery chargers?
@jbhikes12882 ай бұрын
They work well to extend the power brick life, not really to fully charge them, allowing us to bring smaller power bricks and saving in overall weight.
