I was born in Saskatchewan but moved to Alberta when I was 1. We went back to visit the Saskatchewan once or twice every year until I was maybe 20. I'm 36 now and went back to Saskatchewan earlier this year. I was shocked to see how many towns were now ghost towns that weren't ghost town 16 years ago.

You would think the snow would have done those buildings in years ago...

Those grain elevators were built to last. I just love the wind. I wonder if you would be able to include when the town was actually formed/incorporated? I know you might not be able to do a lot of them but if you can get hold of the history of it and be able to include that it would be kind of neat.

I grew up in sask and avonlea was a standard school trip. I still think about that place all the time, people don't get that there's dunes. Your photography is astounding. Haven't been back in a long time but those night shots are inspiring. Reminds me of taking a canoe out when the fields flood from snowpack melt, it was like being surrounded by stars with the reflection.

Eatonia SK. The old homestead house was originally ordered from an Eaton's Catalogue, that is what makes it unique.

I'm from Lake Stevens, WA, but my maternal grandparents all homesteaded in North Dakota. Ghost town in Gerber, North Dakota, where grandpa George W. Gerber was the first postmaster, no longer exists!

3:24 Fun fact: The Women’s Christian Temperance Union had 4 female pastors dispersed across the US. One was Rev Alice Barnes, of Castle and also affiliated with a church in Big Timber. Barnes was one of the leading suffrage activists in the region…and my great grandfather served with her in the WCTU (when you find out the reverend in the family was a turn of the century egalitarian, it’s a nice surprise!). I’m thinking about re-enacting her…

I went back a few years ago to visit places the family came from, especially the family farm. I saw so many beautiful old schools, barns, churches, just caving in & rotting. Even the old grain elevators were interesting. This was all in southeast North Dakota, especially Stutsman & Dickey Counties. Very cool channel, just subscribed.

If you haven't already. Be sure to make your way to Roosevelt, OK and Gotebo. The only thing keeping Roosevelt from dying is Parts World the junk yard. The only thing keeping Gotebo going is the grain elevator. You can find Cooperton between Mt View, Roosevelt and Gotebo. Good luck and safe travels. Oh, Dill City and Lone Wolf oklahoma are Ghosttowns as well.

My husband and I took a trip to Oklahoma in September to see Fort Sill in Lawton, where he was stationed when he was in the Army. Seeing this video made me want to take a side trip to Gate and he agreed. It took us 5 hours to drive up there from Lawton and we arrived around noon. Yes, luckily for us Laurie's Cafe was open for business, so we were able to get some lunch there. Several people stopped to get some take-out while we were there. Afterwards we checked out all the wonderful murals. I wish we could have found out who painted them and when they were painted. It was very hot that day and it was a long drive but well worth it. Thanks for the upload!
