I wish people do not make this kind of video. People in the market for lenses can make their own decisions by reading the specs of the lenses.

Super! Ripping around the continent in a van a dream of mine, and it's helpful to have a mate that knows what to look for. Have you taken her much farther than the wetlands just yet?

I have been disappointed with my Lexor 2000..I have had lots of odd numbering sequences and going from say image 2000 then jumps to image 4000. After formatting it heaps so far it's working OK. Have just got the sanshowsd 300mb/s V90 II so will see what happens with it.. Lol fingers crossed

Hello! Thank you firstly for your dedication to furthering understanding of the natural world, it is highly admirable and I can sense your appreciation for nature which is not as common as it should be. As a suggestion to your potential disturbance caused by filming, have you tried or considered adding insulation against sound or more separation, perhaps metal shielding if they are affected by any EMF or overly sensitive? I have experienced with bats for example even seemingly unnoticeable electrical noise can be highly disturbing to them. I am highly interested in the Antechinus species for their role in ecosystems at the small vertebrate level, particularly as an alternative to rodents. As I understand Antechinus as a species has highly developed anti microbial peptides with rapid immune response mechanisms that make it significantly more resistant to a variety of common zoonotic diseases, other than what may be tick-borne diseases. Which interestingly makes them much less likely to be vectors for disease especially to humans. The semelparity reproductive strategy is also interestingly unusual and curious given the superiority of marsupial reproductive mechanisms, but seems to be a further positive for them overall as an in built mechanism to prevent rapid over population through the loss of all males every breeding season, which is a major problem again with rodents on the other hand, with uncontrolled rampant over population given the resources. I think Antechinus would possibly be a great candidate for an artificially simulated self contained ecosystem experiment and fit in well within a food web with a variety of sensitive restrictions on available area and habitat.

The color difference was very noticeable between the 605 and the 400 when you were sitting in that tree. On The 605 shit your jacket is the correct color, the 400 shot it’s black. I do t know how you can say the both look the same..

Whoop, I'm late to this one! Amazing shots of the little lady yellow foot there at the end. Your knowledge of those little bugs is so great. If you want any help with that documentary some day... you've got my email. Also noted that I was impressed with the dynamic range coming out of your little Osmo. Sky was still blue in the fierce sun! You bagged a few birds I've never even heard of, pretty different menagerie from the preserve near home. That Frogmouth encounter was epic 🤙

Hi Derek, thank you for this great video! The info and footage about their living and mating habits is great, I learned a lot about what's going on in my outer-suburban yard. Also learned that the sound I'd always assumed was possums squabbling is really antechinus squabbling :)

I've been in a pinch or two where my card couldn't keep pace with the camcord and I missed the shot. You could easily spend more money trying to reclaim missed wildlife shots than you would on a high-speed card. When nature falls in your lap, digital storage should be the last thing in your mind. Looks like a great product! 🤙

Envious of your van lol. So many bird, I love that green one that appeared to be a ground parrot. As I'm not as mobile as you I have to get as close to the birds via my car as possible. I'm heading on a road trip for three days south west of where I live in a couple of weeks, if I can get as many photo as you, I will be happy, I've yet to ever see antechinus

Yes loving the van and its very labour saving setup - everything to hand. Interesting video - just one query - your journey at the start of the video is that an area that was devastated by the wild fires? I was intrigued by its strange appearance. Keep up the good work. All best wishes from the other (Uncle) Derek Hilton.

Hi Uncle D I hope you and the family are going wall and life is good. The area I was walking in is a lake , this time last year the water would have been about 1.5 to 2 meters deep were I was walking . But since then there hasn't been much rain so the water has receded a long way, that's why it look a bit odd . Cheers nephew Derek.

I too had gone into depression after losing my wife to cancer in June 2023, my children consulted a psychologist, sold my business and left me in the jungle around birds with a camera in my hands, currently I have come out of depression and now I have fallen in love with wildlife photography and forests.
