This was a nice video that gave a good look again at Shard. I do like his journey from villain to hero and wanting to find acceptations and enjoy life like Sonic told him. I do hope one day Shard can appear in IDW ether as a character or a cameo. I can't wait to see what character lore you do next!!!

I wish that Gemral sort of kept that Shard personality into the IDW comics. In my opinion the whole way he talks in IDW is sort bland and boring especially compare to other robots like Orbot and Cubebot or even Omega.

Shard is one of my favorite Sonic characters of all time. I always love it when we get inorganic characters that discover humanity and what it means to live (like Nicole and Sage) and Shard didn't dissapoint. I will always miss him.

The garbage chute, the "dressing up as the enemy soldier" schtick, the aforementioned "that's no moon"... this miniseries has more Star Wars references than I thought! And they didn't feel too out of place without "getting" them. I'd say that's a good sign!

I love these touching Archie Sonic videos. And Shard won’t be forgotten. The top reason he was called Mecha Sonic in his final outings (and why he never returned) is, according to Ian Flynn, because SEGA mandated Archie to stop trashing Metal Sonic(s) & stick with one, no multiples. As for Gemerl in IDW, his characterization is based on notes from Sonic Team as, since he’s a robot, his personality is supposed to be robotic. Thank you again, Matt.

If I write a story around Shard, I would have Sir Charles repair his Power Gem with the Chaos Rings, seeing as they were Archie's replacement. I'm thinking Shard would return to his blue colors. And fellow scraped robot doppelgangers would act as his new troopers. Yes, this means Shard would have his own Metal Amy, Metal Tails, and Metal Knuckles.

favorite archie comics character & best story in the archie comics as while not a fan of the early art/look in the chaotix adaptations like in his comeback he went out similar to the ova(wish outside of a brief cameo it got adapted/would get reintroduced to idw's version of little planet.) & after being rebuilt felt fully like the concept of metal sonic turning good/if he survived in the ova having sonic's playfulness and getting to somewhat make amends with sonic.(also being part of a cool team that actually used silver compared to being just there in the games.) understand why he died(from sega telling the comic writers to cut it out wrecking metal sonic that like what eventually happened to the older archie universe shard unfortunately had to go out with them being left dying after metal sonic at his most brutal.) but part of me wishes they reintroduced him into the games having metal sonic 3.0 be turned into him.(kinda consider gemrl more him having his emrl attitude when he took the sonic crew's personality.)

You might’ve forgotten about Ballade from Mega Man IV on the GameBoy. Ballade had a similar fate to Shard from Issues 86 and 87, when he sacrificed his own life to save Mega Man from the collapsing Wily Battle Station at the end of the game.

The neat thing is that Ken has absolutely _no_ rights to Shard. He was only involved in _one_ story featuring Metal Sonic as far as I'm aware (the Knuckles' Chaotix special). Everything else, from his debut in Issue 25 to his return in "Heart of the Hedgehog", to rebirth as Shard was other people's work, so if Sega really, _really_ wanted to push Metal in that way, they could. They won't, because it's more marketable for Metal to stay the way he is, but it's still nice to think of "what ifs", even if they're highly unlikely.

I like Shard since having different robots that defect from Eggman helps to show that even Ais can have a humanity in them if given enough time to learn from those that can teach them. Not to mention, it be a nice spin off of a good Sonic robot handling some things while Sonic is away or dealing with other villains while Sonic deals with Eggmans scheme that is in the for front.

Shard's story was something that expanded throughout the years in the comic, and we all had our own ideas of possible what if scenarios about a Metal Sonic who turned good. His final fight against Metal Sonic might've been one of the best stories in the modern Archie, due to them showing his inner conflicts, his attempt to finish the battle in a more heartfelt and pacific way, and the end result which ended up, in my opinion, with his death. In the end, he was able to become like Sonic. There are still more characters in this Archie universe that a lot of us want to learn about. Hope to see, in the future, the story of Finitevus

I knew human still exist on Sonic's world. Wish that Sega make humans reappeared in the next Sonic game. We haven't seen them since we have last seen them in Sonic Unleashed.

He had the means to kill everyone and win the entire time, he just didn’t want to win so easily because where would the fun in that be for him.

So wait, if Blaze had a Chaos Emerald in her world when all the other emeralds in Mobius were combined then that means there’s 8 Chaos Emeralds in the Archie continuity right?

This issue has actually got me thinking, I’m surprised Tails doesn’t get called things like “freak” more often considering his 2 tails are supposed to be some kind of birth abnormality and yet most people who aren’t his friends just treat him like all foxes have 2 tails? Not that I want him to be called that, but still.
