Thanks for all the info on visuals! How's the performance with populations past 500K? Should I purchase the game with a 3070 ti?
@College-BuilderСағат бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Over 500k things definitely slow down, although I have not built many at that size. I need to do some more testing. I am not sure about a 3070. I am playing with an RTX 4090.

Thank you, but maybe they just need to fix the visuals themselves, by fixing the lighting and adding luts ...etc

I do wish there had been built in options to tweak the visuals, but happy the modders have made it possible! So much of the look is a judgement call as to what your personal preference is. 😋

I think a modern city centre with a sports arena, is the next area followed by a port town and industry, then several farming towns, focusing on one farming element, eg town of Wheaton for wheat farms, Applethorpe for fruit and veg, Woolstead for cotton, Woodville for the logging industry etc

Definitely farms next please, i think i speak for many when i say rolling fields really hit that spot. I think it would be great if you could try capture the true scale of farmland as a lot of other creators tend to build farms the size of towns whereas farmland is many times larger and small villages are usually nestled within. Very cool build with the industrial / service campus space between the interstate and the rail line. These are the perfect plots for dirty and/or loud industry as they (a) profit from the proximity to the infrastructure and (b) use otherwise low value land as it would not be attractive for residential or most commercial uses. I mean, it's still not a *nice* looking part of town - but industry is a fact of life at this point in human evolution and since we have to have it, why NOT put it where nobody wants to live anyway. And I like the very realistic grungy look of the area! Usually C:S2 assets are just so... clean and unreasonably well maintained. You managed to give it the authentic "nobody cleans anything around here" feeling of modern factory districts. [Edit: Oh and I also very much like Pebble Hills, but for the opposite reasons - it's super beautiful and looks like a spot I couldn't afford to even go on holiday to, but it's super suburban sprawl-y and _realistically_ emphazises the waste of space that is the golf course...]

I admire your dedication to detail, and I noticed how you improved the pacing; it reads much more smoothly. One suggestion: maybe add a small industrial hub near the airport area. It’s common to see logistics warehouses and sometimes a post office nearby. Not sure that something you can fix with decals, am I the only one who thinks the swimming pools on the beach properties assets look too dark? Pools usually pop with that bright, lagoon-blue vibe, don’t they? Your ideas sound interesting! A small marina would be a great addition to complement the wealthy neighborhood.

Thank you for the comment and glad you noticed the pacing change 😊🙏 I agree the swimming pool decals could pop a bit more. I will take a look. And thanks for the suggestions. Its is incredible. It really does look like a satellite image. for another area, what I find interesting is that in California I have witnessed scenic ,rural and agricultural areas become tourist destinations with farm to table restaurants, vineyards, resorts. These are popular as wedding destinations. There are artisans and a mix of things like a farm stand selling cherries next to a contemporary designed winery.

When using netlanes for your fences how do you keep the same fence variation going? I'm sure it is something simple but I find myself getting frustrated trying to keep the same style going when I'm trying to fence in a single property. I'm always making new little sections off to the side until the same variation starts again.
@College-Builder8 күн бұрын
Yes, it is very frustrating to get the right colored fence. What you don't see in the footage I cut are all the little sections of fence I built and then deleted. I recently downloaded the Asset Variation Changer mod. That is supposed to help with the selection I think but I have not tried it yet.

I immediately had thoughts of there being an old deserted mansion and "high end" part of town maybe off into the mountain just a little but still in close proximity. My story would tell that the mine was first built many years ago by a wealthy business man and upon discovery of a rich deposit of mineral a small wealthy town popped up ... but now it is abandoned and these few ramshackle homes are descendants of the original mining families. There are different stories about what was discovered in the mine leading to the downfall of the community. But that story varies depending on which family you descend from ... So why are the people still there? Well many still believe there are still riches to be discovered in the mine. Stories are told of family members who have gone back in but never came back out ... Are the families out to get each other? Killing off the other family members that try to enter the mine? Or is there still a direct decedent of the original mining mogul himself that keeping anyone from entering the mine because he is the sole survivor of that fabled day when the mine came to it's bleak and abysmal end ...?? - I just got back into the city building world and am loving Cities 2 and the community surrounding it. Glad to have stumbled across your content (thank you algorithms lol).
