hey mate, sooo i am calum and id like to start by saying sorry i let emotions get the better of me! completely bang out of order, i accidently knocked you into final chicane and i stopped to let you go as i was enjoying our battle, then the contact between us at the time i thought was retaliation which i can now see wasn't case but doesn't excuse the blocking that was wrong, great to race with you before it went wrong though! absolutley agree with you for reporting it completely deserved.

Hey mate. I didn't report you in the end. I know racing gets heated and I did absolutely wreck you in T1 by squeezing to much. Emotions happen so don't stress about it. Hopefully I'll see you on track in the TCR's again this week because apart from us both being idiots, it was a great race!

About the incident with Calum, Sure, if it only was about the moment where you wrecked Calum itself, then yes, it would have been on you a 100%. (I think you really should have given a little more space.) But, given the fact that he rear ended you just before, he otherwise would have still benefitted from that, which I think wouldn't be very honest either. In other words, he would have been a real sportsman if he would have stayed behind for that moment anyway ! (Well, I guess he's proving Sportsmanship isn't his highest priority anyway, right at the end.)

Nothing is holding the deckchair steady, it just grips to the carpet. Never had any problems with it moving though. My wheel and pedals are a Thrustmaster T300 set with a load cell brake mod fitted to the brake pedal

TCRs are great, especially here. Had some great results last week too. Also for your pedals, just get a wheel and pedal stand. Very useful, and the gt omega ones have a chair attachment that you can get later on if you fancied a re-brand 😂

No worries man. Didn't bother me, I know people get hot headed racing and I get it from his point of view. He was making a move for the lead and got taken out. I'm sure he will of thought about it the next day and known he did the wrong thing. I had a great race with him till then though!

@PhoenixMotorsportUK that was me! I was one of the guys. Got absolutely wiped out at the top by the guy coming out the top. Just had 30 minutes spare after work, and the combo looked interesting. Turns out I am not good at driving that car haha

Report the callum guy he was a menace and not a fair racer was sending divebombs left and center and almost rammed you off i have noticed a big increase in people like callum which is a big issue if you have a good race and someone like him ruins it

TCR is great. Raced every week so far in this season. Fastet race lap in 30min open at Thruxston was a 1:16,6.

I just ran the fixed setup in the open, so I didn't get any advantage from less downforce, which I'm guessing is the way to go at Thurxton. I'll give the low downforce setup a run out at Daytona in the open and see how it goes

Quick Thruxton tip. Dont get into the habit of taking so much curb. In other cars it WILL tip you (how do I know this 😁)

@@Deckchair_Racing What I tend to do on a circuit where I havent raced that car before is in the 30 minute practice intentionally get slow downs and see where they run out without backing off. If the time to give back starts to go up you know that for that particular one you will need to slow down but you can work out by how much.

I don't like to protest as its racing and accidents happen. You say sorry if you make a mistake and move on. But I'd definitely be considering a protest against Callum. He was over 30 seconds ahead of you and its obvious he was slowing for a revenge punt. The fact that he didn't punt you is more good luck and evasion from you than his attempt. It's attitudes like that that really puts me off racing on iRacing sometimes.

Oh yeh. I'm not at all bothered about being rear ended, mistakes happen and it had no impact on the race. But you are right, the intentional attempt would have been frustrating if it had worked

Protest the guy from the first race. You did an honest mistake, he did something completely against the sporting code. Sucks for him that he gets taken out due to your mistake, but he doesn't get to do that on the last lap. I saw him arriving on your relative towards the end of the race and knew exactly what was coming. Just fyi, you can never gain irating finishing last in a race. It's an ELO type system - you take irating from people you finish ahead of, and lose irating to people you finish behind. If you're last, you have nobody to collect irating from! You could hypothetically gain irating by finishing second to last if you were like 1k in a field of 10k drivers. You'd lose almost nothing vs the people in front of you (even though there are a lot of them), but gain a decent chunk vs the single 10k guy you beat.

@@Deckchair_Racing Yeah it's zero sum, and afaik doesn't even consider/care about the position you finish in. It simply compares your rating to every other individual's rating in the session at the end of the race, and considers finishing ahead of them a 'win', and finishing behind them a 'loss', just like if you were to win, or lose a chess game vs somebody - the amount you beat each individual by doesn't matter in the slightest. The total irating you gain, or lose at the end is just the sum of all of those mini transfers of Elo. You gain more irating the higher you finish because you take irating from more people, and give irating away to fewer people. Good luck in your future races/videos! Nice fnatic shirt btw

Will accomade pedal/shifter/hand brake That's what I'm using and it's very sturdy It's $250 USD It also has a tray that you con drop your lawn chair front legs into for stability

I'm sorry George, but, you need a better seat. Having a firm base to put your bum, which doesn't move backwards and forwards everytime you brake, will help you control brake pressure which leads to better trail braking, threshold braking and better laptimes and of course you'll need to get a race seat that looks like a deckchair. Anyway, as usual, it was excellent content and anyone who dive bombs and tries to bump pass and push to pass isn't realy playing fair so don't feel to bad for Callum!

In the deckchairs defense, it isn't actually the problem. It's also a bit comfier now that the I have put a cushion under my ass. The problem is that my desk is so deep, that I can't just sit the pedals against the wall to hold them in place. So I have a think hardback book sat against the wall with the pedals propped against that. It holds for 9 out of 10 races but when it doesn't, it is a fucking nightmare. You are right though, a more stable setup would absolutely improve things! I am thinking about it but it's a massive investment so I'm holding fire for now

@@Deckchair_Racing I don’t have much room to give advice to drivers that can wheel a TCR car 2 seconds faster than my PB. Don’t know how you guys do it. The fact you are doing so without any kind of “rig” whatsoever at that level is even more impressive. When I started out I did the similar propping up the pedals unmounted against a wall with a book driving from a computer chair with the casters removed. But once I setup a custom rig (scrap metal from work I welded to resemble a rig anyway) where I was able to mount a stable seat and actually mount my pedals with bolts to a pedal deck so the base never moved, my times and consistency improved immediately. Your driving skills are impressive, I’m just curious how you would do when potential inconsistency from unmounted pedals and seat are removed from the equation. 😃. Great racing, subbed, will be watching more.

Loving your content. Finally got a PC to get into iRacing myself for xmas. Have a home made rig made out of off cuts of wood and a TX wheel/TLCM pedals. You dont need to spend serious cash to make simracing work. less than 2 weeks into iRcaing and i actually got my first win yesterday. Keep posting the vids!

@Jack96993 haha! To be fair the rig is as solid as any profile rig you could buy. The seat is actually from a fiesta st that I got from the local scrap yard. The off cuts i used were 4x2 and some 3/4 inch ply left over from an extension I worked on. I'm a carpenter by trade so its not actually that hard to knock something up in a few hours. A bit of black gloss and it looks good. Admittedly I could do with an upgrade on the wheelbase eventually. As for monitor I'm using a 32" HD TV at the moment. It does the job but again I will be looking to upgrade at some point. Ultimately though you really don't need to spend a fortune to get decent results. I've actually now got a few wins under my belt. According to the stats on iracing my average start position is now 5th and average finish is 4th. Not too shabby for a middle aged bloke who doesn't even drive IRL lol.

It is a D license road race. So once you have the D license you can find it in the official tab. It runs at half past the hour, every hour, every day. It's a great introduction to multi class racing, though you need to not be in bottom split to actually see the M4's
