Very interesting video. And that’s great that home owners want to save money especially with how high the bill can get for plumbing m. I’m a licensed plumbing contractor myself and I never dig under the house myself. I will always try and go the route of getting the slab saw cut and digging from above. If the home owner doesn’t want to do that for example if they just had new floors put it I would charge accordingly and would sub out to a professional excavation crew and get a professional structural engineer to over look the trench under the slab before I even set foot under there or craw under. Yeah the bill might be high but I value my life too much and too many people including plumbers die every year under a house from cave ins . So as a home owner if I was going to do this digging I’d advise, make sure you pull a permit and at least get a structural engineer to check out your slab, foundation and dirt level and listen to the advice they give, possibly look into shoring equipment or support beams for the slab. Even if the “nosey neighbor” can’t see you id still pull permits and do everything legit. You can save all the money you want but there’s always a chance of dying going under your home and for me that’s scares me, idk about anyone else.

Will do a rental of the Bosch, they don’t rent the shovel adapter, compared to the wide std blade do you feel it’s much more efficient for under slab digging? Wondering if I should buy that shovel adapter?
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 4 күн бұрын
The shovel bit is definitely the way to move a lot of material. Being able to rotate the shovel bit with a few clicks of the attachment point depends on the tool being used. The Bosch has a provision for this and it makes a big difference.

Remove the back and side bolts. Remove the B pillar trim to expose the Top frame bolts. Remove the complete top with the frame from the car. Stripping and installing new top back on the frame is a piece of cake then. Repeat to re-install.

This video is 10 year old. I have a similiar problem and couldnt figure out what. The more i drive and the more annoying it gets. Stopping and taking off would feel something loose and went on for years. Went under truck and moved the shaft and yup alot of play and the shaft support is gone. It can drive since it my only truck but will be ordering the part right now. Its august 17, 2024 today and this video helped good to understand the symptoms of the annoyinces. Gracias sen̈or!

Plumber quoted $9k in San Antonio to tunnel 8ft because of loose/unattached pvc outflow pipe. Probably due to the foundation work. :(. Any advice?
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 27 күн бұрын
@@pbhero I’m afraid not. I’m just an average homeowner always trying to save a buck if I can. That $9k sounds about right given the pricing I received 8 years(?) ago. I recall a flat rate minimum and then a couple hundred bucks per foot after the minimum length is reached. It gets dicey when all the work is done and everyone can lay eyes on the problem and possibly find either it’s better or worse than everyone thought. At some point it feels like you’re just spending Monopoly money. A few thousand here, a couple thousand there. I already know we have systemic problems with our main lateral line under the entire house and out to the street. Maybe five years ago I heard that was a $25k job. Interesting side note is that if you abandon a lateral line and run your waste lines into the yard (my extreme preference) it must be capped per code. In my case it would also require that I pump my first floor centrally located AC condensation I guess into the attic and out to the new waste line somewhere. It’s currently draining into the main waste line via gravity.

You have to be spraying if you have the motor running. Only takes about 2 minutes of not spraying to damage your pump.

So can you take off the bottom or did you have to pull the entire dash?
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 2 ай бұрын
This was twelve years ago and the truck is long gone along with my memory of it. The truck is built around the dashboard and the components within it. Best I recall we omitted replacing certain non-functional components that came with the new unit due to too much dash disassembly required and only focused on what the minimum parts replacements were by accessing from the bottom and lower-front of the dash to get is working.

How did you get the outter rotor housing off? Kind of an important step to skip there...
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 3 ай бұрын
It’s not a rotor removal video. That said, if the rotor won’t come off it’s almost certainly fused to the center hub. The rotor can be persuaded with a hammer by specifically bashing on it between the studs…NOT the rotor face and being careful not to bash the good studs. In some cases there are bolts that hold the rotor to the hub, if present, they of course must be removed. Penetrating oil on the center hub may help.

Love your video and explanation. My issue is my 2001 GMC Sierra 2500HD driver door won't open from inside or outside or with the remote. The inside lock button is stuck or wont move more than halfway to the uock position. Would this be from the actuator?
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 3 ай бұрын
I'm afraid it's been far too long since I did this work and can't comment directly. Maybe somebody else might know. My only thought is to pull the door panel and start working all of the mechanisms to see where the hang up is occurring.
@teresafarley4033
@teresafarley4033 3 ай бұрын
@dirtyshirtinfo unfortunately, since the door won't open, removing the panel is not possible as there is a screw under the door panel that you can't get to unless you rip the panel off. I may try to disconnect the battery and let it sit for awhile and then reconnect it. MAYBE that will reset the electronics and magically make the door fully unlock!!

I recently did this to 2001 chevy silverado ...had to cut the old one off. But it was easy going in...1st clean shaft sand lightly to get ride of any bild up.....then heat bearing lighly inuff to fell the heat off of it ...and use a dust off or I used lighter fluid refill bottle upside down to freeze the shaft then light taping with a pipe that fits over the shaft and up on breaking

You don't have Stihl chainsaw problems you have Saw Shop problems can you turn the joke all the way on pull it twice turn the choke all the way off pull it the third time it fires up and runs you peel its ears back and go to Cottonwood if you're getting sawdust stuck in your clutch area it's because your chain is not sharp enough if you're not going to run it for at least a week drain the gas out of it and run it dry when you cut sideways with a saw you always cut with the pull rope up and put a 2-foot bar on it it'll pull it

Dealing with this issue but have to reroute the drain. Does this require any tunnel foundation support?
@dirtyshirtinfo
@dirtyshirtinfo 5 ай бұрын
This is north Texas is all I can tell you and tunneling under a house is common practice in the area. I did not use nor am I aware of any supports being needed as the soil is generally clay based. Keeping in mind that I have little to no idea how the pros handle these situations or how they identify potential problems. I worked with my expert plumber on my specific problem and followed his direction on how to perform this work safely.
