Just wasn't my jam. Maybe one day I'll try it again. It's just really hard to sit through a long read and not have it click when there's so much else out there. I know a LOT of people love it though, so I don't deny that it's good, it's just not for me. Not all books are for all people. :)

Do you have any insight on Magnetic Press re-releasing another Monkey King deluxe slipcase edition? I thought all hope was lost with the Frontier slipcase edition, but those are available again on their website after they were previously sold out. I was hoping maybe you knew more about it. Thanks!
@Omnibuddy15 күн бұрын
The Frontier slipcases on the Magnetic Press store’s site were what remained of the overages from the Kickstarter (that’s what all the limited editions are on the site). The Monkey slipcase edition was available for a long time until the remaining stock finally sold out. I hope a reprint happens one day, but I don’t think it’ll realistically happen unless Chiako writes more of the story.

Love the collection. Those custom dust jackets on GL are great. Did you make those and print yourself or find them online? Selling off those Berserk before reading is crazy. It is very dark but take a break and come back to it.

@sean21042016 күн бұрын
will they ever reprint these? I'd really love the hardcovers.
@Omnibuddy9 күн бұрын
Unless Chiako does more of the story, I doubt these will ever get reprinted in the HC format. They were Kickstarter exclusives, so you had to have backed when it was live or found the overage printings (to cover damages) right after. Magnetic does have the TPB compendium, which is a pretty dang nice copy, too. But if you want the HCs, you're probably going to have to find them on eBay or Mercari or something. Sorry!

I’m so grateful to have found your channel. I watched a couple of videos and subscribed with the swiftness! A few years back I was diagnosed with a chronic disease and it’s affected pretty much every area of my life - my social circle is pretty much non existent now (you learn who your true friends are *real quick* when you get ill, trust me) and one of the hardest things has been losing my focus - which in turn has meant losing one of my biggest joys: reading. The last novel I managed to read was about 3 years ago. Now, the words just seem to swim on a page, and reading the same paragraph or page over and over again in the hopes it’ll sink-in and “stick” became an exercise in frustration. A few months ago, I remembered I had 3 or 4 collected editions of Graphic Novels that I’d never gotten around to reading, and decided to give them a go in the hope that the artwork would help break things up a little so it was easier to digest. It worked like a charm! I’m now a fully-converted Graphic Novel nerd and love it. I’ve been buying a lot of late and building my collection - maybe a few too many tbh! But what a joy it is to find a channel like yours and learn some things like this spine-stretching video (which I now follow and can confirm does indeed work!) I haven’t checked your homepage yet, so I don’t know if you have a discord, but I’d love to connect with others for sure. Thanks for the great videos man! All best, ~Paddy PS: Bring back your opening title sting - I don’t know why you dropped it in more recent videos, because it was great and adds an extra level of quality professional polish to your content!

You really like end of the world stuff. I ordered Gieger and Junkyard Joe. The new Ghost Machine universe seems cool. I do like color books more than black and white. Not a fan of Walking Dead being in color. 💸 💰 grab. Like anime but never read a Manga. Not use to reading it right to left. Indie books are better. Good video. Like your style
@Omnibuddy18 күн бұрын
You definitely get used to the reverse reading order pretty quickly (at least I did). I do enjoy apocalyptic stories, don't know why, but they're like candy to me! lol I get the recoloring being a bit of a money-grab, though; I'm LOVING the colorized version of Scott Pilgrim that I am reading right now, though! But I think that the color version really fits the "video game" style that it's going for. Thank you very much for watching and commenting, btw!
@francoisdemorcy508418 күн бұрын
@Omnibuddy end of world stuff are good when done right. Mangas are cool just not use v to reading them because of the opposite way. Pilgrim is a bright weird story so it being put in copr makes sense. WD is bleak. Major 💸 💰 grab. Your views are always 😎.

I’m gonna have to admit I only watched about half the video because I couldn’t stand the long introductions for each book when I would know whether I was interested or not interested from the very beginning if you would just show the book and I could skip to the next one, but instead, I had to listen to your long intros for Books. I’m not even interested in And so I couldn’t finish the video.
@Omnibuddy19 күн бұрын
All good, I know I talk a lot. That’s why include the chapter markers to jump around more easily. I’ll try and cut back on the long intros and get to the meat better. But yeah, I tend to specialize in the more niche graphic novels, so I know my picks aren’t going to be for a lot of people. Thanks for trying it out though and even making it that far!
@michaelbeall967719 күн бұрын
What I was only trying to suggest is presenting the book right away and then given your detailed explanation of why you chose that book it would allow people who from the very beginning are interested in that book to skip ahead or stay and listen
@Omnibuddy19 күн бұрын
All good. I get that, and it's a great point!

I greatly appreciate this video and how you highlight books that no one else seems to mention. Time stamps would be very helpful. I myself am working on a graphic novel, and since it is of a non-superhero genre, this video is precisely the sort of content I am seeking. You have gained a subscriber! I saw that someone else mentioned "Don’t spit in the Wind". I am a big fan of Stefano Cardoselli and other Italian artists, I am hoping to be able to launch a channel where I can interview them, since I speak Italian. I am going to check out your interviews of content creators. Thank you for being an inspiration!

You got me feeling a need to make an updated graphic novel collection video! I am gonna use that aesthetic-organizing term, that definitely resonated with how I sort my books as well. I totally get you on Berserk, I bought all the volumes and read through them all. I understand what people see in it, but it wasn´t for me to re-read, knowing what dark stuff is in there. Great collection video, I liked the little intermission when we went into the closet of shame x)
