Well, I am trying to do some delving into some of the television house bands on late night television. There was the greatest one - Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Band. And of course, Jay Leno's band with Marvin "Smitty" Smith giving us some great drumming fireworks. Arsenio Hall had his house band which was called "The Posse", with Starr Parodi doing keyboards and even some singing. And then, this band, which was formerly called "The World's Most Dangerous Band"--now the CBS Orchestra, on the David Letterman late night show. I had seen all of these TV house bands and they are all good. I also realize that Anton Fig's funky drums and Paul Schaffer's jazz organ licks reminding you of greats like Jimmy McGriff or Lonnie Smith works wonders in that 'Only So Much Oil" song. And Tom "Bones" Malone - was that the sax player who played sax for the 1980's flick, "The Blues Brothers?"

Living Legends in their own lifetime! The Great Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra (a.k.a.: "World's Most Dangerous Band") were secondary only to Doc Severinsen and the NBC Orchestra! I miss all of you and hope that all is well. Thanks for sharing.

For beeing "winging it in" this is darn good! Even tensax and organ solos carries lots of influences from the originals. Like it, great work! 😎

I visit this video every few months. So good. Felicia is on fire here of course, but I also get much joy from watching Paul lead the band and just look like he is having so much fun all the while being a keyboard virtuoso.

Compare this noise and claptrap with a performance by the Tonight Show Band with Doc Severensen. What a crime.

Will, no apologies are necessary.Anyone who bitches or hates here has no appreciation for good music ... or the musicianship to get here. I've often decried the fact that the TV audience only ever got a very small taste of what this band could do. Get into a studio and crank out some arrangements, head or chart, before you guys go your separate ways ... because it's usually next to impossible to bring back the energy. Well done.

I remember watching Letterman over the years and wanting more than anything to just hear the band jamming through the commercials. It was like 30 years of getting teased with 5 seconds of greatness after a commercial break, then it was over. Cool to see this!!
