A Mitsubishi engine that consumes oil? Next, you'll be claiming water is wet.

Would it be possible for you to list what it would take to build an LS model GEN 2 to an RS spec of the same year. I’m currently looking at a 1997 Mitsubishi Montero LS with a 3.5 V6, but would like to get it as capable as an SR. By the way, love your videos super informative and motivating. Thanks for all your efforts and would really appreciate your feedback on this.

Thanks so much for this video! Two follow up questions: 1. Is there big differences with Gen 1 front CV axles than this video? 2. Are there any companies that make heavy duty after market CV axles? I was wondering if an off-road specific company like RCV offered other alternatives.

I cannot find a decent video or a more in-depth video of exactly how to go about doing this on a 6G75. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I do NOT want to pay someone to do this but with what I've found so far, I don't feel comfortable taking in on. TIA.

How much oil would be too much oil burning for this engine? Mine is burning 1 liter every 1200-1300km. Pretty sure the valve stem seals are weared because some smoke build up when race the engine after let it idling for like 10min. Besides that no smoke

I'm looking at Gen 1s in my area. How much more power does the 3.0 have over the 2.6? How much does the webber carb help out a 2.6? Also, is the stick or auto stronger/better than the other?

Uh, you probably just roasted your transmission. Don’t matter weather the transmission was in “drive” or “neutral”. There’s no fluid being pumped in the transmission, but that rear planetary gear set is still turning along with a clutch pack.. You needed to disconnect the drive shaft or at least put the transfer case in neutral….

Sad. On the bright side, one of the cool things about that gen of Monteros is that they're still cheap on the used market (if a bit hard to find).

Just got my second GEN3 sight unseen too. I LOVED my first one when I had it enjoyed it for 150k miles before I sold it. This new one is an 05 with 99k miles on it single owner no accidents. Needs some maintenance however timing belt was just done. I need to do new brakes, rotors, calipers all around, and going to drain and refill Trans, T-Case and diffs, coolant flush, prob an alignment check and should be solid! Can’t wait to eventually get some new AT tires prob next year and that’s about it.

I got a 2001 4x4 Montero with a little over 20000 miles the person who owned it said a rat did some chewing on the wires under the hood, she had her mechanic rewrap the wires . I got it and seemed to be fine my friend washed the engine . I drove it home over 20 miles no problems the next day the battery and A/I lights came on checked the manual for it said it was telling me to check the tranny fulid it was low added trans fulid now after it runs and gets to the med heat on the temp gauage it starts smoking like a freight train. Why ?

Damn that sux, sorry to hear about it. Regarding the airbags, my first thought was perhaps they weren't wearing seat belts? Though I'm not familiar with the specifics of how montero airbags operate. Glad ya got a plan for the rest of the season, and a positive outcome from insurance.
