I was 6 in 1963. My father had a friend who was a Marine sergeant at the Sub Base in New London. He got into one car with his son and my father with me. I distinctly recall both my father and his friend saying how petrified they were. The biggest fright to them was the nose of the car looked as though you were being driven off the track before it made a sharp turn back again.
