Yeah, going to bars in the 1st date, 'might' considered sluts. Even for Korean girls. But korean girls that are not hesitant to get drunk on 1st date were usually fucked up girls. Not all the time. It is okay to get a,little tipsy

I'm pretty sure you will need to cover up tattoos for the medical?
@busanbasics247
@busanbasics247 Жыл бұрын
When getting our medical exam neither one of us covered our tattoos. When I was working at the public schools, I had to disclose to EPIK that I had tattoos (they will not deny you for having tattoos but they will fire you if they find out you lied to them about it) and my school wanted me to cover them up. However, recently, a lot of private schools don't seem to care too much about tattoos

Wait I don’t know if the requirements changed since this video was posted but I emailed EPIK and saw their website and it said that if you have a degree in teaching then you don’t need a TEFL? I say that because I am graduating with an elementary education degree and I was weary about getting a TEFL because the one that was recommended was well over 1700+ dollars
@busanbasics247
@busanbasics247 2 жыл бұрын
At the time of us making this video, you NEEDED TEFL even with a teaching degree. However, I don't know if things have changed since then. EPIK is usually really good at responding to emails so see what they have to say. As for the TEFL certificate there are other TEFL courses that are wayyyyyy cheaper than that. I would recommend looking more into it before purchasing that one.

This is scary because I watched a woman, Queentiwa talk about her experience working with Hagwon and it was vastly different. I know everyone's situation is different but it really shows Korea's racist attitude so clearly. Perhaps white people will just always be treated better though some may still have strife.

I had a lot of friends who went abroad from Korea when the quarantine was lifted, but once they came back, the rules changed back to the quarantine. It actually cut their trips short so they wouldn't miss any work. I'm doing the same thing this December, but I'm going to D 10 myself before I leave, so It won't matter if the rules return to quarantine again. Hoping they don't, but it's good to be prepared.

When you say one should be cautious if a hagwon offers them 2.5 million won with not much teaching experience,What are you referring to? Is it too good to be true? Is there a high possibility that their employees don’t stick around much because of their treatment? 🙆🏽‍♀️ what are the red flags you should look out for in such cases? Thank you for the video!! It’s very informative
@busanbasics247
@busanbasics247 2 жыл бұрын
2.5 million won is on the higher end (depending on where you're located) so if you have zero teaching experience, you have to ask yourself "why would they pay this much?". Usually it's a red flag and something to look out for

The ghosting , oh my god, the ghosting. My Mexican guy friends go through the whole "Let's talk about how we're not made for each other" when you break up in good terms ,and then you cry, and some of them cry, but in the end you part ways knowing you had a good time and maybe a good friend. I never had anyone ghost me that wasn't an asshole. But Korean guys ghost you for no reason. Even in social media, they just simply... stop talking to you, even when you were having a legitimate conversation about a subject, such as "I love that singer ! Have you seen his CD's on sale in Korea?" Other guys in other parts of the world answer " Yes, No, I don't know lol" but Korean guys.. GHOST GHOST GHOST 😅😅😅

It is very unfortunate that in Korea, groping people is normal. I don't think the police would do anything about it. What is worst is that if the victim from a foreign country tries to defend him/herself, he/she would get punished by the police.

Exactly. I've been groped soooooo many times while in clubs and it's just "normal". I don't think the police would've done anything to the guy if they saw what happened and probably would've arrested my friend instead for assault.

I Should have taught epic. I worked in a private language school. Lesson planning time? I got to school at 8:50, classes started at 9. I had classes non stop till lunch, supervised lunch (if the kids finished lunch on time I got a 1/2 hour break but usually more like 10 minutes) and then afternoon classes till 5. 2 days a week and on Saturdays I had private tutoring with 2 sisters. Lesson planning time would have been nice.

If you're doing EPIK and you really want Busan I would definitely apply as soon as the application day opens. Busan Office of Education also prefers people with some sort of teaching experience so if you have done anythinggggg working with kids (babysitting, tutoring, summer camp, etc) I would definitely play that up in your application and interview. Another option would be to get a recruiter and look at hagwons in Busan. Good luck!

Some resources you can use in your classrooms are: Kahoot, Bamboozle (I think that's how you spell it) and lyricstraining.com. They are all online game websites that have all kinds of English skills. The lyrics one has popular songs at 4 different levels and they have to insert the missing words as they are listening to the songs. On the Kahoot one they sign in by using a code that the site provides once you've chosen the skill and the game. This way you can kind of assess their progress in the specific skills because they have to answer individually, and at the end the site shows the students' performance. Hope you and they like them.
