You should throw video in about your new team. They were close last year but Lisa will give a big boost this year.

Our ice is terrible most times, sometimes we have to counter rotate just to keep it on the ice.
@MissKorea-oy9ip13 күн бұрын
Putting more rotation would straighten that shot, right? Or could it curl more too if I got my sweepers on it? My club ice has tons of curl.
@xy485613 күн бұрын
on good ice more rotation shouldn't necessarily mean less curl overall, but the stone will run straight for longer, then curl lots at the end. a stone with lower rotation will usually curl constantly, but more gradually. with that being said, you don't want to be too extreme one way or the other. try watching the difference between throwing two rotations and five, and see how your ice reacts to the change

If you are practicing this alone, do you get up and sweep your own rocks? Or is this drill meant to be no sweeping at all and only weight control?

Jamie, what about when you are sliding backwards- which I see some skips do when looking down the ice to determine their shot as they go down to the hack?

Its the same idea, but its a lot more dangerous! So be careful.

I have a question for you. I've just started to learn how to curl last year. My delivery is quite low to the ice and as a result it is difficult to keep a proper grip on the handle. Especially the outturn. My hand almost tends to be underneath the handle. As a result my accuracy tends to be a little off. any advice?
@CurlUpWithJamie20 күн бұрын
yes, that makes perfect sense. I would suggest a slightly higher body position in the delivery... but if thats not possible, then have a look at top curlers that also have very low deliveries (like kevin koe) and try and copy their release.

Hi Jamie, left lots of comments on various videos. question here, it looks like you are looking up(and many people when sliding to play a stone out of hack), is this where i should be aiming or should i be aiming at the invisible hog line mark that i want to hit? (i generally make a line from the skip mark to me and where it cross the hogg line i aim for) or is this a bad habbit. And firmness, i dunno if i should grip that hard, as im a climber and my strength is much higher than most, maybe just comfortable that it doesnt move? Thanks, Evan
@CurlUpWithJamie20 күн бұрын
Just like most sports, you should keep your eyes on the target. But yes, sometimes cross referencing with a point at the close hogline is helpful for alignment. And yes, maybe for you, the grip should be less. 7 is just a guideline. Most people dont have a solid enough grip.

I'm new to curling and can never seem to slide close to the hogline. I'm not sure if it's just down to my leg strength.
@CurlUpWithJamie20 күн бұрын
It might be a couple things... balance, equipment, strength, etc. It might take time to build a longer slide but it will help improve accuracy.

Just left a comment about some of this. Still wondering where your focus is. Is it Hogg line or skip mark? Cheers from Switzerland Evan
@evanmaclean9432 ай бұрын
What is our target? When I bowl I aim at the arrows on the lane about 1/3 down. So I’ve inherited that for curling. For example The skip calls the shot. Then holds out my mark. I make an invisible line towards the stone with my hips facing the mark etc. then I visually see where that like hits the Hogg line and that’s what I aim for. Should I do this or should I keep my head up and focus on the broom mark? In bowing a closer mark is easier to hit. But there is a point if you pick a point to close the axis can’t be exact. So it is different than bowling which is always a 1/3 way from target. In the approach it’s distance from hack but then eventually becomes almost nothing. Thanks, Evan

Hi Jamie, if sliding from one end to the other, where or how should my gripper foot be placed? How do I propel myself with my gripper foot? Thank-you
@CurlUpWithJamie20 күн бұрын
You trailing leg should extended out behind you and your gripper foot pointed so that the only thing in contact with the ice is your toe cap.
