My 1/4 inch plywood fit very loosely in the 1/4 grove due to the fact that quarter is plywood is no longer quarter inch. What can I do to prevent it from shaking when I assemble my door or my kitchen cabinet?

Hello and sorry for the late response. I have used both hot glue and wood glue to help. Another thing to look at is using a different flute router bit for the groove or make them with a table saw. Not sure if you have viewed this or not, but here is a discussion on this topic that may give you some ideas forums.woodnet.net/showthread.php?tid=7085200.

Hello, wood glue is what I used in the video; however, any PVA glue will work, it just may take longer drying time. Please let me know if you need anything else…

Maybe a piece of plexiglas instead of multiplex, so you can look at what you are doing. Or maybe a see-through hole of plexiglas around the router. Also for dust collection there are add-ons for the router. Great vid, thanks !
@CleverWoodworks
@CleverWoodworks 6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment sir. I have thought about multiplex; however, as I don’t use it that much and the thickness I do use is only 6mm, it wouldn’t be a good fit for this. But the spy hole and definitely the dust collection would be a good idea.

Birds do not require perches. Predators, however, do ... Additionally, you must provide drainage holes in the bottom and ventilation holes at the top, probably under the eaves. Finally, you must provide for annual cleanout. Suggestion: screws on one side (NO glue) for panel removal at cleanout time ...

@@CleverWoodworks in my early years I wouldn't wax my saw blade n the saw would give a lot of kickback, and when your straight lining, those shaving would be like spears being thrown at you, and theirs blowback its almost like a grenade being blown in your face. But once I started waxing my saw blade it's all stopped.

We recently lumbered a 36" maple, a 36" white ash, and a 32" pecan. After drying, we tried planing with a Rigid (Home Depot) 13" planer with 2 HSS knives kzbin.infoUgkxIzvvTi3_Qc8JnVdYYRJCvuoDC4QjTzeL . This job was clearly too much for that machine. The pecan was particularly difficult, due to heavy mineral deposits, and a sharp pair of HSS knives would be consumed by a mere 3 boards. We were also having lots of problems from chip bruising, due to poor dust collection. The shavings came off like straw and jammed in the 4" hose.We bought the DW735 simply to be able to run carbide blades, which worked brilliantly for the pecan. However, we found it to be a much, MUCH nicer machine. It was far more rigid than the "Rigid" planer, and far more accurate as well. But what I liked most about it was the dust feed. This machine has its own blower, which shreds the "straw" like shavings as they come off the cutting head and helps boost the shavings into the dust collection system. No more clogs! It's also nicely sealed so that the internals stay quite clean. This is just a well tempered machine that's a delight to use. It literally cut the labor in half. Just another example of getting what you pay for.

I always see T&G done with a table router, can it be done with a plunge router?
@CleverWoodworks
@CleverWoodworks 11 ай бұрын
I suppose it could be done; however, you would sacrifice consistency and moreover safety. If I didn’t have a table I would probably grab a small sheet of plywood to act as a makeshift table.

Yup, I was working on my '57 Gibson and snapped off all but one screwhead right down to the body. Got a brass tube slightly smaller than the screw thread diameter, filed some teeth at the end of the tubing and started drilling counterclockwise. After drilling about 1/8" down the broken screw(s) extracted themselves, leaving me 5/32" holes to plug. I still can't believe how well that worked. Thanks!

Hello and thank you for this opportunity. I never even knew this existed so I’m going to try this the best I can. I would try and ignore finishing that use steel wool as they tend to leave debris ridged/ornate surfaces. Now with that being stated here is a web link to something that I think might help you out. Please let me know if I can help any further…. www.rockler.com/learn/matte-finishing-techniques

This is very helpful! Thank you! Question, before you used the plug cutter how did you prep the area around the screw? Or another way to ask a question is it difficult to get the plug cutter centered when first starting to cut around the screw? Thank you! - love this idea to use plug cutter - Much quicker and easier to find than the hollow screw extractor and more affordable!!
@CleverWoodworks
@CleverWoodworks Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. I’m going to take it that you either have some sort of upheaval, or you are working in an area where a cove/ogre bit has been through. Getting as much surface area for balance is the name of the game here. if it’s upheaval than just file the edges down for a smooth square surface and if your operation is on a curve try to keep that screw cantered as much as possible while keeping the plug cutter on as much material so you maintain control. Please let me know if I may be of any further help…

Thank you so much. it’s hard to say without being there; however, I would say to use a plug cutter and replace the hole with a plug or dowel. another option I thought of is to move the rail up or dow half an inch or so to avoid the previous holes. Hope this helps you out…

Same. I needed this like a hole in the head trying to understand how to make this work. Problem with my situation is that I’m dealing with prepurchased lumber which I milled down down to 3” improperly. Now I’m dealing with twists and bows. Shall be interesting without the heavy lifters. But a couple jigs should do the trick. This one and a table saw straight edge notched to one blade width thick to about 3/4 down the board. A few passes and a few flips, should get me down to about 2”🤣. Live and learn. Am I right or am I right?
