I'm considering downgrading my Venture X. Between having a nightmare experience with the travel portal (having two hotel bookings not getting me premium benefits and getting double charged), all the nerfs, and I am too deep in this game with excellent credit to even get preapproved or product change an old Cap 1 card into a Savor.

For me I'd only ever get the venture x card for the SUB and cancel after y1 unless they opened a capital one lounge at my airport. It's def on my spreadsheet down the line but there's so many I'd like to get first. Which also will most likely result in my denial of the card. But maybe one day

The 300 dollar travel credit was always for the travel portal. It was never a credit like the CSR. The change that occurred is that the charges come off upfront for a purchase instead of a credit card. The largest impact to that is you get 0x on the 300 dollars vs 5 or 10x. The 10k points can be used via the travel eraser which would work like the csr travel credit. Keep in mind most of the changes related to priority pass and lounges are making the vx more similar to the csr. One thing to point out that nobody ever compared or mentioned. When you travel over seas and look at available flights via credit card travel portal, flights with in China, Australia, Europe, Indonesia, etc.. you will see more direct and lower price options(more access to lower price airlines) on c1 vs other issuers. This can save a lot of money(and points using travel eraser vs csr 1.5x) and time.

Ahh right right, good to read this because now I remember what it actually was. Forgot while talking and editing so thank you for that! Yes true, and while powerful with the 5-10x etc, not the biggest biggest deal really. Good point on the price options 100%! Thank you for this Engineer, good insight!

It’s just a Citi Double Cash with Priority Pass. I guess with some travel insurance and no foreign transaction fee. The four authorized users are good but in America this doesn’t matter.

First off - props to Eric for being a great son/brother/grandson. I have had the VX for a couple months and love it-so easy to recoup the $300 credit and looking forward to 10k annual bonus. I got a little over-excited starting the credit card game. VX, Hawaiian, Hilton Surpass all added in the last couple months. Declined for the Chase Prime during their increased bonus, so I'll wait until next time once my new account history cools down. C1 also won't approve me for Savor, so I'll wait 3-6 months until I can get it and set up the duo.

I currently hold the Savor and Venture cards both work together for some excellent earnings. I do not need lounge access at the moment and will not be flying this year so I will enjoy the discounts through Hertz rental cars with the C1 Venture card and earn 2x on everything. The C1 Savor is a solid 3x card covering all the categories except gas you can’t go wrong with the no AF Savor card! Enjoy the Venture X Mr. Venture! ✊💳

Holding the Venture card has pretty good benefits I used it to get GE this year and I use the Offers section for a lot of natural spend instead of Rakuten I also weigh out the offers on Amex and Rakuten before proceeding on our spend.

Venture X was my second credit card to be honest I love it. It’s probably the best credit card that fits my needs and you can’t beat the 2Xall I’ll probably keep that card forever unless something dramatically changes but right now it really is like he said too good to be true wow.

I'm hoping that I can get more use out of the Venture X now that I'm winding down on a gauntlet of sign-up bonuses I've been running for over a year. 2025 is going to be a gardening year for me as I try to drop down to 4/24 (currently at 8/24 and I won't see that drop below 5/24 until at least January of next year as of now.) My main issue with the Venture X and why I'll probably always favor the Sapphire Reserve over it is the fact that I've become primarily a Southwest flyer. C1 has no Southwest flights on its portal and obviously Chase does, so I haven't been able to really amass many miles for it since I got the welcome offer for it a year ago. I guess we'll see if I can make use of some of those offers now that they give Miles instead of cash back.

Not talked about. C1 IS BUYING discover. They then can decide if they want to leave Visa and use the payment network Discover owns and uses. They will be able to stop sharing swipe fees with visa. So whats your international acceptance going to be with C1 VX not being a visa. Would the card then loose the Bennifts that are also included as a Visa Infinite card?? Im thinking c1 will switch . New year 2028 card prediction. It must be in the billions in revenue they can add with the network included in the Discove purchase. The visa Infinite, as part of the VX was included in your discussion

Eric makes a great point that being an AU on the Venture X might be the best possible position to be in with the card. You don’t have to pay the annual fee, but the only things you miss out on are the $300 travel portal credit (I personally avoid portals when possible), 10k anniversary miles ($100 that stay in your pocket and you can use elsewhere and not be tied to C1), and Global Entry/TSA PreCheck (which you probably have from another card anyway).

I’m definitely interested in this card. Hoping for an elevated sign up bonus on it soon🤞🏼Do they have the family language on this card in the terms and conditions?

it's fun to compare capital one offers and shopping to Rakuten to see who will provide the best offer. Though you got to be careful since they like to modify your cookies.

Wife got an upgrade offer to the venture x with the sign up bonus. We bought a piece of furniture through the capital one offers portal with a 30x on the purchase. Within the first few months she already has 140,000 venture miles.

This is literally not talked about enough anywhere. C1 offers are really good. Tons of options, and bonus miles ranging from 3X to 30X. I bought my son a pair of shoes he needed for 10X miles. Very overlooked aspect of the VX.

Funny how the top two user friendly high end travel cards- the VX and USBAR (before it was discontinued) were the hardest to get approved for.
@billwright217623 сағат бұрын
It's easier for vx approval if your credit history is younger and you carry a interest paying balance. So harder for other people doesn't imply prestigious. They don't want to give you the cards benefits if they can't make money off you. Altitude Reserve high end travel card?? Does it have travel partners?

I plan to move some C1 credit lines around later this year and give my C1 Venture card a 10K cl an upgrade offer should follow 4-6 months after this and I may grab the Venture X. My credit portfolio is too large and makes C1 flinch ha, I don’t need all the cards just want them so a product change will be my only hope for a Venture X.

Shout-out to Main Street Simpsonville at the end! I'm in NYC now, and our neighborhood butcher closed a few year ago so we've been using Butcherbox which codes as online grocery on the CSP. Quality falls a bit short compared to the butcher, though much better than the local grocery store and priced in the middle. Been thinking of canceling the AMEX Gold, so have been searching for a grocery replacement! Thanks for the info!
