How do you know what kind of Compressor the AC Unit has while it's running/ On? In particular with HVAC, I notice that identifying Compressors is difficult for me even though people within the community do it all the time. I'm not exactly sure, either I just don't know the specifics or I'm not used to the whole idea of Compressor Analysis.
@dilchproductions3 сағат бұрын
Reciprocating compressors are always fatter/more oval shaped. Scroll compressors are skinnier/more cylindrical. Rotaries can look like scrolls at first glance, but they have the discharge line coming out of the top, whereas scrolls have both lines coming out the side. As far as brand goes, for scroll compressors, Copelands have either a blue or a white sticker, while LGs have a bright green sticker. For reciprocating and rotary compressors, the brand should be on the tag on either the top or side. While the unit is running, you kinda have to go by the sound, which I can't really explain the sound for each, but all three types each have a distinct sound. You could also go by the general shape of the compressor if you can see it through the fan.

Question, Have you ever seen that Carrier Tech 2000 in the back running / On like ever? I'm referring to those 3 Carrier Tech 2000s at the very beginning of the video, the back one at 0:29 . I notice each and every time you visit this Air Conditioner Heaven that that AC Unit in particular never turns on. Is their a reason for that?

@dilchproductions8 күн бұрын
That sounds a tad on the expensive side. According to Google the price of a new HVAC system can range from around $5,000 to $12,000. Is it a high end unit?

@jimdayton8837Ай бұрын
Seems like Rheem used some really crappy fan blades in the mid 80's-early 90's because most of them rusted out badly like some of the ones in this video. Also, the blank data sheets are just faded, I think they were just a template and the info was typed on for each individual unit. Great finds btw!
@dilchproductionsАй бұрын
Ok, thanks for the info! I always thought it was some factory error that they didn't print any data on it, but the numbers fading is probably more likely

What Do You Think The Igniter Turn On And Off With No Turn On Burner Flame
@dilchproductionsАй бұрын
If the igniter on a furnace keeps turning on and off but it doesn't ignite, that means the furnace isn't sensing flame. It could be a dirty flame sensor or no gas pressure.

I like to think that the units that are off, are probably set to off on their thermostat, or they’re just running the indoor fan because the people in there set their thermostats to Fan On, which just runs the indoor fan and not the condensing unit. Or, they could just be off in general.

Things I have learned in this video: Central air conditioners back in the day had the fans on the bottom of the unit? Ah, yes, so it blows the air to the ground, because that makes all the sense.
@dilchproductionsАй бұрын
Designs for central air conditioners back then were a lot different, not all of them had the fans on the bottom. Some had them on the side, some had them on the top, some had them on the bottom, etc.

I know this video was 5 months ago, but I always get scared when either central or more commonly window air conditioners are sitting on a bracket. Even though they are screwed on good, I still get those stupid intrusive thoughts on what if they fall? Lol. As you can tell, I do worry to much about little things like these.
