Love the kids+brother line. Love Steeves for Reaves. Love Woll in. As good as Stolarz has been, this is our starter. The way it should've been. Nylander+Nylander? Berube will make us wait, but he will deliver. Imagine being excited about a game against Utah, in November.....Leafy things! Enjoy folks!

Agree with everything but the woll comment , stolarz is a better goalie and a healthier one , woll has couple good games a couple bad and is then injured its been his thing since he came to the marlies , completely unpredictable and cant depend on him when it matters most , i hope he is healthy for remainder of the season but i HIGHLY doubt it , has not proved it besides what ? 2 playoff games and then was injured i don't ever see woll as a starter in the nhl until he proves he can play more then 10-15 games without injury

Horrible take bud. Nurse having his head up is IRRELEVANT. It’s the hitters responsibility to adjust the level/height of his hit to the opponents shoulder/chest height. Sometimes that requires bending your knees to match the height. Reaves did not do that. How do we know that? Because he hit nurse in the head. I don’t care if an opponent is short, or reaching forward, or bent down, etc. The hitter must adjust his own height/level to match the “hittee’s” shoulder/chest height. This is very simple. And has nothing at all to do with Nurse “protecting himself”. Players take hits to make a play all the time. He probably knew a hit was coming and was willing to take it to make the play. If Reaves simply bent his knees and went shoulder on shoulder/chest, it would’ve been an awesome, hard, legal hit and nobody could whine about it. If Reaves can’t bend his knees anymore, then he needs to retire. Btw, I’m not an Oilers or Leafs fan. Also, this “principle point of contact” standard that’s used is a joke. Players wear weapons on their shoulders and elbows nowadays (part of the problem) and just because they graze an opponents shoulder on their way to a head shot does nothing to prevent brain damage. Keep hitting in the game. Nothing better than seeing an opponent get rocked. But the hitter MUST bend his knees to make a level hit to opponents shoulder/chest. This is a simple, common sense standard.

I love tough, hard hitting hockey. But the league sucks at making the rules clear on head shots. “Principal point of contact” is a horrible standard. Players wear weapons on their shoulders and elbows nowadays. Grazing someone’s shoulder on your way to a head shot is a joke. Here’s a very simple, straightforward standard for hits: -The hitter must adjust the height/level of his hit to make contact with “hittee’s” shoulder or chest. If the hitter is unable to lower his hit to the height/level of opponents shoulder/chest and as a result makes head or chin contact, it’s an illegal hit. This solves the problem and is a clear, easy to understand and enforce standard that will keep hitting in the game (as it should be), and prevent brain damage. What is crucial is that the hitter must bend his knees or lower his body for the hit.

If he can sustain this game ovver an 82 game season AND playoffs then he's worth the money. History points to he cannot sustain all this ice time and have an impact in the playoffs

Hard hit. It's not a dirty hit. Knies head hit the ice, which is very unfortunate.

Nurse is a meathead that holds grudges.. im sure Reavo will make sure to deal with him next time they meet

What happens if the defenseman stays in the crouch he was in, as he closed the distance, through contact? He misses Knies??? Wrong! He throws a solid body check, and separates Knies from the puck. From that crouch, at impact, Physics/inertia lesson aside, he is basically on his toes. Still in that crouch, zero intent. Tiptoes? Some intent to hit high. BS decision. The league is either protecting heads, or they are not.

Sam Reinhart makes 8.6m. So Marner shouldn’t make more than 10. Marner does more than Reinhart aka PK and 200ft player. Marner has a way better +-. So 10M-10.5. If he plays well in the playoffs. But Marner gets them into the playoffs. Hard to replace someone like that when they walk. even if you have cap. space. Nylander is great but Marner is a totally different player. More responsible and less turn overs.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. It's not because I'm a leafs fan. But when you see the players head recoil first, starting either at the head itself or even the neck area, that's a high hit. If the chest is hit first, then the head as a result of the whiplash, and then I understand. If a guy is skating low with the puck......I dunno, lower yourself. I dont know what to say because knies was stating low, but it's still a hit to the head. That's what this debate is about. Look at shorter players? I'm not saying they're unhittable, but find a way. I don't know what that would look like, but by this standard, saying "he's basically not eligible to be hit" is basically saying that shorter players have to accept that they're going to be hit high more often.

The Leafs have played solid hockey in their first 20 regular season games, even though the injury bug has ravaged the team! Berube is getting the best out of his current roster, an instilling his style of hockey. The Leafs are bigger, grittier, and heavy too play against, than the past 8 years? Reavo should have hit the body, and not the head. Nurse should have had his head up! Referee calls inconsistent, a major concern. Tre, has more moves and/or trades up his sleeve, to make the Leafs a true Stanley Cup contender, next year. GO LEAFS GO!!!!
