I think this album is underrated, I get how some people didn't like it, coming after mental funeral. I'm more of an abscess fan than autopsy, that's probably why I like acts of the unspeakable & shitfun they have the beginnings of the sound they'd have in abscess.
@nononsensemetalreviews3 сағат бұрын
@jessop- Glad you agree! I must admit, I'm not very familiar with Abscess, I definitely need to do some more research and delving into that one.... But as you rightly say, Mental Funeral was a tough act to follow and that doesn't help! 🤘

Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are the epitomes of Thrash/Heavy Metal. I love both. I'd also enjoy Kill'Em All but without those terrible vocals. Luckily Hetfield improved on that a lot. Unfortunately Metallica died for me with Cliff Burton and due to a series of bad decisions masterminded by Lars Ulrich whom I even refuse to call a drummer.
@nononsensemetalreviews7 күн бұрын
For me, the first 3 albums are the epitome of Thrash, pure genre defining mastery! I can understand your stance on the post Cliff era, I happen to really enjoy some of the later albums, but Metallica's story has been a messy one for sure! 🤘

Hi. Great review and thanks for showing Anthrax a bit of love. By far my favorite big 4 band, a band I have never grown tired of, and the only big 4 where I like all of the discography. Nice to see someone else excited about them, being excited about albums like spreading the disease, and not being negative about the John Bush era. I got to go to a meet and greet a few years back, I had some items signed, and was able to see they are very genuine and friendly guys who are thankful for their fans. Keep up the good work, love the videos and the passion. Cheers

I can’t understand anyone saying Anthrax not being in the Big Four. The keyword is ‘big’. Anthrax were huge in the Eighties. I can understand metal aficionados saying they prefer Exodus, Testament, Overkill or Death Angel. But the fact is only the band members mums could probably pick any of the band members out in a line up. Anthrax, Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, were/are borderline household names.
@nononsensemetalreviews7 күн бұрын
Can't argue with you there's friend, Anthrax deserve the position and it would be ridiculous to deny their importance and influence. There are a lot of other great Thrash bands that deserve greater appreciation for sure, but in terms of status and success, I'd agree that the Big Four is an accurate description 🤘

This album came out after an avalanche of hate cast upon the band.The latter release had received countless negative reviews.I must point out that the Killing For Revenge has being likely a shut-mouth for all those who had thought that Six Feet Under was died down in industry,afterwards the Nightmares Of The Decomposed. Here is a fiercely proof with the new record dropped out.

i looooooove At the heart of winter, like you it was also the first Immortal i heard. Ive been retrospectively listening and internally reviewing these lately and, as I appreciate the time it come out and its sound, I feel Battles in the North was just all blasting and wall of noisey stuff, and when cleans kicked in it was like its own thing. As opposed to ATHOW which blends it all seemlessly. I like Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark) from BITN but overall i feel BITN albiet a solid black metal release, still only gave it 6/10 Frowning Abbath Faces. I actually much prefer Blizzard Beasts for that more black metally black metal Immortal. Also in reference to comments below: Sons of Northern Darkness is a masterpiece, who is hating on this album!?

Although the cover is laughably bad..... Blizzard Beasts is another savage album definitely.
