Great driving and footage. I’m a regular there but depending on the TDO, it can get a little oversubscribed. I’ve done 4 this year with Javelin and the amount of incidents and red flags is quite concerning. I’m back in August but with a different TDO who limit the amount of entries, so fingers crossed I get more track time and less idiots.

Hi …. Really late to the party … I have just bought an R400, and now I’m worrying about noise restrictions on track days …. I’ve bought a baffle device, but still not sure …. What exhaust do you run to beat the noise restrictions ?
@WhiteRoseDrives7 ай бұрын
You’ll be fine at most circuits if it’s a standard R400. Mine is tuned, which makes it a bit louder. The only time I’ve had an issue was on a low noise day at Brands, and even then a baffle device stuck in the end of the exhaust sorted it 👍
@user-sk2pq2uq7t7 ай бұрын
@@WhiteRoseDrives thanks for the response …. Mine is standard so hopefully from what you say will be fine … just out of interest, what tune have you done …. Is it Throttle bodies, or something more ….. I must admit, it feels good as standard, but we all like a bit more hp !!
@WhiteRoseDrives7 ай бұрын
@user-sk2pq2uq7t You’ll be absolutely fine then, yes! I never had any noise issues before my tune. It’s a Premier Power 225 upgrade - but they don’t exist any more, sadly. You could do much the same with ITBs and a map anyway. If I’m candid, I wouldn’t bother. The R400 is nippy enough. The one (well two) upgrades I would do though is the ultra lightweight flywheel (even lighter than the lightened flywheel it already has) and competition clutch. The ULWF makes the engine spin up and down so fast it’s incredible! Heel n toe downshifts are a delight 😍 and the comp clutch is like an on/off switch 😂 High speed gear changes are almost like a DCT. Incredible.
@user-sk2pq2uq7t7 ай бұрын
@@WhiteRoseDrives great advice … really appreciate it …… think you are right with the tune…. It’s a pretty rapid beast at 210hp …….. like the flywheel idea though … adds so much….. so off to the track for me in June, and see how it all goes ……

The distance from the vanishing point to the driver does not change based on the speed the driver is travelling at. So, the technique cannot tell you how fast to take a bend. It just tells you to slow down as you approach it and speed up as you leave it.
@WhiteRoseDrives5 ай бұрын
Yes, precisely. If you continue to monitor the vanishing point throughout a bend though, it can tell you if a bend tightens up (for your current speed). Hence, never misjudging a bend again.
@Robert-vw3od Жыл бұрын
I was taught something very similar to this about 20 years ago, it was described to me as looking into the furthest corner and you can see the speed in this way. Also it gives you great road position

i think it really sucks that of all the things in this world that are not scientific and predictable enough so as to facilitate its process, driving had to be one of them. people are so unpredictable everywhere, and no one learns in the same way, and we can barely agree on what constitutes the "right" way to drive. it is discouraging

Better still….just do what the signs on the road tell you to do? IE..white lines in the middle of the road, warning signs on poles, arrow warning sign on bends etc etc. so many people ignore these signs or don’t even know what they mean.
@WhiteRoseDrives Жыл бұрын
It’s not “better” to do that, it’s something you should do in tandem! Completely with you there that so many people don’t seem to know what road markings mean. Long lines with short breaks versus short lines with long breaks, for instance.
@bigaldo246 Жыл бұрын
@@WhiteRoseDrives Well all I got from your video is to train people to concentrate on that one specific area of the bend and when they can start to accelerate? Whereas I would train them to check the lines, and signs and road conditions? Ie…wet,ice,snow or tractor leaving mud or debris, pedestrians and animals vehicles broken down also diesel spills and UFO’s? You never know what’s waiting round the corner…..SLOW DOWN for the bend doing a full 360 check then when safe and no obstruction in the bend then you can accelerate safely. Served me well for my 50 odd years of driving cycles,motorbikes, cars and trucks.

Hi, first time I'd seen a video of yours, and wanted to query something relating to driving to the vanishing point, but unfortunately couldn't request directly on the video you placed. Being a motorcyclist and car driver, I'm keen to learn, even after 30 years plus of driving. Does the vanishing point technique also include the 2 second rule techniques? To gauge the distance from the bend, or how do you gauge the distance and speed, especially if you are new to driving.. just thought I'd ask. Thanks
@MultiTipsie Жыл бұрын
I think you doing a good job fir people who do not have great drivingskills! However...Nowadays everything can be a called a "technique" I suppose. In my feeling I just do that automatically and have always done. Never thought about it being a technique or something that other people might not do. As I am already very different from the rest, I am glad I am made aware of one more thing how others look at things. So thank you!
@fredMplanenut Жыл бұрын
No, the limit point is the clear area, so if there is a vehicle ahead, that becomes your limit point. Develop your own safety assessment and don't rely on what you heard somebody say. Every driver is an idiot, and every journey is a lesson.

This is a good approach but should be coupled with managing your speed to being able to stop in whatever visible space remains, which you were not doing.

First I freaked out because he was driving on the “wrong” side of the road. Second the method is very nicely explained, but my question is why? The turn of the road is in front of you so there are no options to do anything else. It is no secret. But I am only a causal driver, driving to slow probably, so I don’t see the magic. Sorry.
@unknownvinnumber Жыл бұрын
Interesting technique, but I have a question: in all the bends, the limit point will come towards you at any speed, even at very slow speeds, right? This doesn't necessarily mean you are going too fast.
