Love 'You've Got Everything Now' - went to see a Smiths tribute band the other night and they never played it...found myself singing it going up the road. Part of their history. This is the best version right here...the audience on stage at the end of the gig...priceless stuff.

How does the whole world not know about this man's music.

*Morrissey does obviously think about what he's singing. He's words are too poetically structured to be mere 'chanced' upon by spontaneity. He can deflect away from his methodology all he wants to (and he does that wonderfully, too), but there's a very stubborn authority to his process he wishes to keep to himself. The man still remains an enigma after all these charming years. Good for him, and may we remained blessed with his talents for more to come*

Wow, a Holliday inn in Houston had the privilege to have this man play… born to late to have guys like this make “music”.

This is my favorite version. Guy didn't fill the air with fluff or instrumentals. Raw emotions for the man that helped raise him.

My favorite Townes song. So intimate, brooding, and emotive. His forlorn voice spins me 'round.

I played the Red River Valley And he'd sit out in the kitchen and cry An' run his fingers through 70 years of livin' An' wonder Lord, as ever, will that drill run dry? We were friends, me an this old man [All] Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train [Jennings] He's a drifter, and a driller of oil wells And an old-school man of the world He'd let me drive his car when he's too drunk to And he'd wink, and give me money for the girls And our lives were like some old western movie [All] Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train [Nelson] From the time that I could walk, he'd take me with him To a bar, called the Green Frog Cafe And there were old men, with beer-guts and dominoes Lying about their lives while they play And I was just a kid, they called his sidekick [All] Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train [Cash] One day I looked up, and he's pushing 80 And there's brown tobacco stains all down his chin To me he's one of the heroes of this country So why is he all dressed up like them old men? Drinkin' beer and playing Moon in 42 [All] Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train [Nelson] The day before he died, I went to see him I was grown, and he was almost gone [Cash] So we just closed our eyes and dreamed of supper kitchens And sang another verse to that old song [Jennings spoken] Come on Jack, that son-of-a-gun's a-comin'. [All] Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train Like desperados waiting for a train

Carl Perkin's lead guitar. This was after Luther(no relation) passed away. Bob Wooten took Luther's place and was introduced at this particular San Quentin concert. Carl ended up leaving Cash's Band. He joined it along with his Drummer -W.S."Fluke" Holland after Carl was in a serious wreck with his brother,Jay, rhythm guitar player was killed. "Fluke" stayed in Cash's band until Cash, died.
