I concur with you on this tripod, I purchased the Cameron T310BH which I believe is a model down from yours from Henry's in Vancouver. It was $179.99 and it was by far the best tripod I've ever used for photography, unfortunately, I don't remember the previous brands that I had over a decade ago. Thank you for posting the video.

I’m thinking it’s soft because you’re shooting at f/1.8? Apparently with this lens the sweet spot is more around like f/2.8 or so.

i think the only problem is that you need to add two action in your movements. You need to add the cap to the lens changer, cause if you don't do that, dirt will come inside the lens changer, Consequently in the lens, and finally it comes to the sensor... would you leave a lens without a cap?

Hey! I find both items but they aren't together in the same box/price. Do you know where I can find it for sony mount? Thank you
@DavidWood25 жыл бұрын
Peak Design has stopped selling the bundled product. You now buy the Lens Kit for your chosen mount, plus a separate Capture clip if you don't already have one. You can use Lens Kit on a strap if you wish, though the handling is likely to be better on Capture.

So wait up... this ballhead can do panning as well? Like the camera would be ontop, locked in place, and then with the friction you can loosen things so that it can pan without the entire ballhead and camera dipping down/slipping?

Great review! It feels plastic, cheap and made in China but it has great features.
@sarahmarshall30688 жыл бұрын
I just ordered one, I am pretty unhappy with the plastic controls on the clip itself, and even more so that the plate itself is plastic. Yet the item is priced at the same level as complete metal, full precision hardware. Thumbs down peak.
@tombuckley917 жыл бұрын
Sarah Marshall intentionally plastic so that you don't jar your metal lens on it 👍 And we're not talking lego plastic...

This thing has good reviews. The plastic does concern me. May give it a shot and return if it doesn't feel sturdy. Haven't heard really bad reviews on build quality though.

Hi, good review, but I have a question about it as if you are taking photo on the beach, with all the sand blowing across, what will happen to the capture lens upside down, it will capture all the sand blowing into it?
@camjam31048 жыл бұрын
Tim, there's no problem as the capture is not hollow in the center, it acts as a lens cap for the lens. I would always put on the lens cap on the front focal end.
@chrisogrady288 жыл бұрын
CamJam you misunderstood the question, the OP was asking the valid question of does the open half of the capture collect sand and then when you mount a lens to that side it's then exposed to the sand that was collected while that side was open. I believe the correct answer is, yes it will get in and cause an issue, in difficult situations such as rain and sand I would put the plastic caps over the unused mount side when you're shooting, to stop anything getting in.
@timlaunyc8 жыл бұрын
Debris will be caught in the open end of the capture. You should buy caps for it for protection. The Lens Flipper by GoWing is an alternative (swapping out the capture mount for eyelets, also more expensive) and comes with silicone caps (not sure if one or two). As for the capture, the mount is just just a flush metal plate, and would not offer any additional sealing not provided by your lens. Nor will this afford any extra protection while changing lenses in any situation like the beach or desert, or in the rain. No one in their right mind would want to change lenses on a camera in those situations anyway. Note: I spoke to a LensFlipper rep at PhotoPlus a few days ago, and saw it in person. I do not own a Lens Flipper.

Nice video. Just bought one and it seems to be simple, but quite effective. It must be pointed out that there are no levels on this head and it will be wise to add a spirit level on your camera (provided the hotshoe isn't being used for flash/flash control) or use the built-in level on your camera. I did purchase an additional 200PL plate just in case for a second camera or the other gets lost. Another thing that is nice about the Manfrotto 200PL plate is that the screw can be hand-tightened without a screw driver or coin.

Had mine a couple months now works great but has a couple of issues. Just discovered... transmitter will not trigger with the supplied pc cable plugged into camera and will not trigger transmitter if pc contacts are shorted either. . Had to mount it in a cabled shoe and plug that into pc port on camera to trigger. How bout a fix light pix. Also, the supplied pc cable will not fit most flash units as they are usually brand specific so must have an adapter to use cabled to flash. Haven't tested to see if it will trip flash used this way. I assumed the pc cable was to plug transmitter to camera. Guess not. Most flash units don't use pc connectors either.

Very Cool. Great and useful video. I just purchased one of the PD Capture Clips for my a6000. Looking forward to using it. I only have one extra lens, but I can see this as being a great convenience as opposed to reaching for that extra lens from within the bag (as long as the weather is nice) . Is there anyway to attach the end cap with one of those little bungee buttons (?) it comes with so that you can cap the open end easily?

Isnt there a big risk for getting dust or dirt in the capture lens when u walk around with it outdoors... and then when u want to change lenses u will get dirt or dust or whatever when u connect ur lense to it and rotate..
@MarioEnriqueAg8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Levin Great question!
@camjam31048 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Levin Great question for sure. I've taken this out for a few shoots already and you are right there is that risk. There's two solution I'm trying. One is the keep 1 of the caps mentioned at 2:27 and keep the cap on the opened side at all time. The other option which I'm trying right now for the next few shoots is to keep the lens on the upside, so the opened side always faces down. If option 2 works well I'll probably be doing that moving forward, one less thing to manage while switching lens.
@egar718 жыл бұрын
+CamJam Thx for à fast reply. The most secure way to go i guess is the first option with the cap on. One extra step but safer. I would like to carry One extra lense in a strap round My shoulder. So think thats the way to go.
@1KINDPhotography8 жыл бұрын
+Tommy Levin Option 1 is a good option but having the cap on can defeat the purpose of a quick lens swap as shown in the video. Option 2 is a nice idea but still allows for dust/dirt to get on the CaptureLens. Leaving the lens up can get in the way especially if you have a zoom lens like a 70-200. Not to mention, gravity will also be a factor so it will only force itself to lean down but it won't rotate down. If you're in an area that has a lot of dirt, you wouldn't want to be using this anyways. You will never be able to avoid dust or dirt.
